Making it a point this year to both buy and read more comics, so last night read Batman: R.I.P. and Superman: Earth One in one go.
Both I thoroughly enjoyed, RIP was a bit trippy at times, jumping all over the show and referring to bits of story that I wasn't familiar with, but they do cover the essentials, albeit much later into things, so at the start I was quite lost.
I also only realized later that this arc basically follows Hush, with Final Crisis the next in line, both of which I have but haven't read either, so perhaps I should've read Hush beforehand, though again, it's self-contained enough to not feel as if there's a huge chunk missing, cool collection, though I wouldn't punt it as essential reading.
Earth One was amazing, loved it from start to finish. A book that once finished, made me so upset that it was a one shot, Straczinsky (sp?) had a grander story in mind for sure. Though the primary villain in this issue was quite one sided and creative, I enjoyed the fresh angle on the origin story, and if they continue it at some stage, I'll definitely get it.
