Long time since I posted here, but...
High: Just came off four consecutive record months in the business to end of the financial year
Low, low, low: Think that's coming to an end as the panic over the Corona Virus is affecting travel so all our airline clients are cutting back which means they aren't ordering from us. Travel around the world is suffering, but with the Rand depreciating now would be the time to expect more travellers to SA and that's not going to happen. This will knock on and coupled with the recession means some tough times ahead.

Yeah it's a bit of a reality check, but if worst case scenario hits no business in SA or the world is not going to be negatively affected. It's whether we can weather the storm that's going to be tough. I also feel sorry for people expected to telecommute while also trying to homeschool their kids, HTF do you juggle that without hiring help and then again how do you hire help just based on your travel savings while expecting these people to travel to your house daily?
Low - Some moron ran a security update on my servers last night and broke authentication which blocked all agents from access the services.
High - Almost have everything up and running but the update seemed to have cause one more massive issue so no email is routing through to agents.
Extra Low - R250k per hour of downtime as per SLA, they have been down since this morning because of this, luckily the majority of services were restored quickly but the main email services are still down.

*Annoyed: So in order to combat the Coronavirus, Wits is de-activating all biometric systems (apparently this takes over a week WTF?).
This, to me, means they know the stupid things spread diseases, but hey, it's only normal flu, herpes and whatever Thabo picked out of his nose in traffic. Seriously, some days the sensors are so miff you can't even see the light

Low: Well, the university is now on skeleton staff and semi-lockdown.
Staff are working to get lectures into an online friendly format. Place is quiet
High: New changes are being forced to happen. Hope some good progress will be made.
Traffic is much better, and will get even better after the schools close.
Might go on a "one day work, one day home" system

Sorry for anyone who's going to get anxious/depressed reading this, but I need to vent.
Will make the assessment over the coming weeks, but this shutdown is affecting businesses badly. Just as I had the business in a position to grow, this happens. We can continue, no doubt, but will we ever recover to the point where the opportunity cost is recovered and exceeded, that is the question.
If I do close the business and decide to seek empl,oyment, will there be any jobs out there to be filled. All I'm waiting for now is the start of the wave of retrenchment annoucnements. Noone is safe.

I feel you.
There is going to be a mayor downswing, but on the other hand, it will pick up again. We are all in for a very rough ten weeks.
Here's hoping it will blow over sooner. The only real ray of light is that the entire country (and world) is involved, so thse are exceptional times. Hopefully banks, employers and other businesses are willing to negotiate

I know the feeling. My company is finally out of the "just making level" and now this... and what do you do... I have 7 staff and all 7 are the bread winners...
Good Luck! The only thing we can do now is hope and wait. I hope you don't have to make any decisions. (having to let people go is horrible and I hate that we as business owners have to do things like that, the look when you tell them)

One of the worst parts to be, in the coming weeks, is the companies that have forced or denied their staff the ability to work from home when they can - which is happening right now in some local companies - will be the first to let staff go.
The other problem is that businesses that should be implementing procedures to reduce the risk of infection and create a relatively safe work environment for their staff, have done nothing yet.
It may come to a point where people voluntarily leave as well if the concern over infecting someone they love is higher than the need to keep earning.

Thanks LLama we are being proactive started negotiations with the unions to short time, I can halve my bill and still keep everyone employed. We also just turned the business around and started having some amazing months. Up to last Friday we were on track to beat the comparative month and then Sunday happened
