Just thought of it... I owned 4 pS2's, but only ever had one Ps3...

Nintnedo the only people that are backwards compatible, even the old peripherals work

I hope this console releases before the 7th of November this year....

I find it hilarious how people are TRYING to troll the PS4.
Sony just bent M$ over a bloody chair with their E3 announcements and people are still trying to sound like fanboys.
I'm not saying the fight is over, but it's amazing to watch them try to play with no ammo...

I am completely onboard with Sony this coming generation. Really don’t see them failing at all at this stage.

But, if I pack away the fangirl in me, there are only 2 things that I am not happy about (but still 100% ok with) PS4 and that’s no backwards compatibility and paying for online.

I am ok with no backwards compatibility because having it would probably make the console cost more and that was one of the factors that hurt the PS3 on initial release. Regarding paying for online gaming – I have always been surprised that Sony were able to run such a (mostly) stable gaming network with on fee required from users. I have PSN+ anyway and if the pricing stays +- the same, that will be great. I only worry about my nephews that are thinking about getting a PS4 and might not be able to afford it, but I guess that is why aunts (that like to spoil their siblings kids) exist, right

PSN+ for multi makes some sense, in that it gives a bit more control over who gets allowed. Considering all the free stuff you get it's really aimed at people who game a lot. People who game less and don't play online multi won't have the expense

Because Sony came out and said around the time of the Feb reveal that there was no B/C. Sony didnt need MS to screw up. They were forward about it, acknowledged they tried to get it to work, but concluded that putting the CELL into the PS4 would have made it too costly.

Pricing is staying the same and your membership goes straight over to PS4 so it covers 3 devices. Also, just like it works on PS3, anyone with an account on your PS4 can access the content. not every user needs to have PS+ on your PS4.

Can someone clarify the used game thing. I've read couple of articles and quotes and it seems as if Sony will allow publishers to decide on DRM for used games. Essentially this will be the same as MS. Does this sound right to you guys?

Only for online play apparently - not to lock the game to a user. They say it works the same as PS3 game ownership.

I honestly and truly do not mind paying for psn plus for multiplayer, because PSN is already freaking awesome. They give you great games every month for just being a memeber, the save uploads, ability to download updates and pause the [censored].

As long as there is playstation with psn plus I will be buying psn plus so that does not matter to me at all

As for the B/C thing over it as well, my ps3 is still going strong so will just keep them both.

During an interview with GameTrailers, Jack Tretton said that, “The DRM decision is going to have to be answered by the third parties, it’s not something we’re going to control, or dictate, or mandate, or implement.” The internet immediately exploded, with many on Twitter accusing Sony of walking back their statements from the presser last night.

When a gamer buys a PS4 disc they have right to use that copy of the game, so they can trade-in the game at retail, sell it to another person, lend it to a friend, or keep it forever.

This is good news for gamers, indeed. In a nutshell, you can buy a used single-player game for the PS4 and play it all you want. If you want to go online with it, you may have to deal with some sort of publisher-determined DRM, be it an Online Pass or whatever.

I think we can put our pitchforks down for now.

@ Teb - I'm all for paying for an online multiplayer pass if I bought the game pre-owned anyway. Costs publishers money to run these servers and honestly R 45- R 90 isn't gonna break the piggy bank

Yeah, if you use it, pay for it.
But if you want to have a quick single player session, it's nice to just be able to finish the game and trade back
