The report splits the gaming audience into six sectors:

Super Gamers (13 percent) are “super invested” hardcore gaming fans.

Console Warriors (14 percent) spend much of their time playing multiplayer action games.

Transitionals (11 percent) are adults who’ve spent their lives gaming, but now squeeze gaming into their busy lives.

Easy Accessors (17 percent) are young gamers who primarily play whatever they can access, most often mobile games.

Daily Dabblers (19 percent) are older gamers who regularly play social and casual games.

Incidental Players (26 percent) play mobile games occasionally.

That makes for strangely depressing reading. At least it explains a lot about the behaviour of big publishers; the gameplay mechanics and payment options they're shoving into console and PC games.

For those of you that read GamesMaster magazine back in the day, it saw its last print in November last year. For us here in SA though, we saw our last issue about 3 years ago. When they stopped selling it here.
