Hellboy Reboot casts American Gods Actor as Professor Broom
Ron Perlman, the actor who portrayed Hellboy in the Guillermo Del Toro directed series, tried desperately to revive interest in a third film that would have rounded off that particular trilogy.
Alas, his efforts were in vain. Instead of a continuation of that saga, it was decided instead that a reboot was in order. As such, David Harbour (Stranger Things) has signed on to play the titular hero.
Now, according to THR, American Gods and Game of Thrones star, Ian McShane, has joined the cast of director Neil Marshall’s Hellboy film, as the protagonist's mentor and father figure, Professor Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm.
While the film doesn’t yet have a release date, what we do know is that it will be an R-rated adventure. Scheduled to begin production in Bulgaria and the UK next month, my only hope is that this new take is every bit as respectful to the spirit of the source material as its predecessors were.
