South Park as well, but ep 1-5 of S15.
Very disappointing season so far, even considering the last few eps of the previous season it feels like the show is on a decline. But I hear it's more due to Comedy Central pressuring to make more rather than Matt and Trey screwing around. Apparently ep7 has some surreptitious comments regarding where SP is right now.
Finished Mentalist S3
Wow, what an ending. That my friends, is how you write a season ending. Loved it from start to finish, they did everything right. There was intrigue, tension, mystery, wit, an acceptable amount of action and ultimately, closure.
The entire season had started to stagnate a bit for me, losing sight of the overarching plot and becoming another "case of the week" show with Jane doing his gimmicky tricks.
There were moments that hinted at a larger scene playing out but ultimately it didn't feel like it was going anywhere, and I really thought we would get another big unsatisfying tease at the end. Boy was I wrong. The confrontation at the end was masterful, nail biting TV. Easily one of the most satisfying season enders for me. Very much looking forward to where they take it from here, and hope they handle it well. They have a chance to really shake the show up and eject it from its mold so can't wait to see what they do.
Only one complaint (spoilers: highlight to read)
Red John was played brilliantly, but I just don't get his sudden urge to leave it all behind. If he was somehow just screwing with Jane to get him off his tail, or doing it to hint at a larger maniacal plan of his, that would've been acceptable. But his sudden decision to quit killing and subsequent demise pretty much nullified the criminally genius and insane master killer persona he had going, for me at least. We'll never know why he did what he did, what his fascination with Jane was, how deep his ties to the CBI really went (it also seemed as if there was this massive network of "Red John cultists" if you will, considering his manipulative nature on other minor characters). I think they did it to satisfy the audience and to increase viewership by throwing a big curve ball like that, but I don't think it was handled as well as it could've been.
Maybe it won't be the end, maybe we'll still see more grand master plan being played out, and have the Red John mysticism expanded (I'd certainly like to see something like that), but guess we'll have to wait and see.
