@IkariX it's a good thing IDGAF about your opinion then, lol
It may surprise you to know that other people have different experiences to your own. But I know that concept may be too far out of reach for you.

As for Nexus, I don't know why you ban people that have legitimate points relating to polls you create. None of what I said was out of line, but clearly you prefer sycophants like IkariX on the forum instead of customers who have legitimate criticism of your logistics (which you make us pay for).

Nexushub has the best customer service no doubt. I have had other retailers that don't care about restocking on sold out titles but yet nexushub helped get me townfall steelbooks and control resonant steelbooks even though they were sold out. No one cares about delivery fees as long as you get the physical game in good condition like I have, especially steelbooks which can be fragile.

@DarkWingDuck

I'm going to call [censored] on your post. I've been buying from Nexus since the AnimeWorx days from about 2008. I have literally never ever had bad customer service from NexusHub. So you are being disingenuous. I don't think you appreciate the great lengths they go to, to get these games for us. But enjoy your other retailers and their[censored] service.

MrOde very good point! I'd pay extra for express overnight shipping.

HaseoVII SAME regarding FF7Rebirth (best believe I preordered Revelation though )

I am such a huge fan of Nexus Hub - no one else in SA imports the niche titles - I used to need to get my stuff from Amazon Japan/US

My backlog is so big I don't care how late I get my orders lol haven't even played FF7 Rebirth or even Stellar Blade yet, but that's just me.

I'd actually go even further and say do standard free shipping for all orders above R1000 but allow an express shipping option/add on for those that want to pay extra. I would gladly pay extra to get whatever I ordered the day after I order it.

Shipping costs on games? What's that?

I'm not looking to start a bad thread about this, I was really just curious because I misclicked the tab on the left and stumbled upon the poll (I'd never clicked it before).

I am fiercely brand loyal to Nexus Hub and I don't care too much about not getting a game day-1. I know other names like BT and Koodoo ship earlier so you get it on release, but I'd never be "that" excited that I must play day-1, life happens
On the other hand, paying an extra R150 every time you order a commercially available title does add up, and I would not blame the average consumer for trying to save some money.

I know I'd feel less off about it if there was a price match, and free delivery at a certain threshold.

I mean if I can save money, why wouldn't I?

Are there circumstances where I would pay that extra without thinking twice about it, yes. In general there's little reason to do so.

That said, touching on Darkwing's point of eBucks, payment options feel like a lot bigger point than the R50 delivery. Lot of places offering rewards, pay later, etc. Those are big pull points for customers.

For niche titles it's okay. Problem is I play mainly bigger titles. Games are expensive enough as is. If I can save 50 bucks, use my ebucks (which some retailers allow) then I'm definitely going with another retailer.

Basically if I have to choose between paying delivery or not I'm going to go for not paying for delivery. On top of that, I find my Nexus orders are usually delayed. I don't think I've ever received a game on release day which is annoying when you're paying extra for delivery especially. And often you have to ask where it is which I don't think the customer should have to do, that's part of customer service.

Had a quick re-read through the thread, as I'm hoping to get a stick when the in-laws go to the states in December.
Crazy how much you save, the TEs go for about R1'200, and the HRAP for about R900 (Ex. shipping and taxes, which is a meager $10 to Texas it seems).

So if they manage to bring it over and bypass customs without getting stopped (which they haven't yet *knock on wood*), that's quite a substantial saving XD.

Anywho that being said, I've been hunting around and after reading so many opinions, have come to the same conclusion Woofels did, thinking that it seems best to go with the Hori Real Arcade Pro V3-SA over the MadCatz TE.
PC/PS3 compatibility out of the box, Sanwa parts, and allegedly less PCB issues than the TEs.
The Qanba looks great but it seems new on the market and there's no stock anywhere as of yet. Maybe in December it'll be a different story but only time will tell.

@Woofels: did you ever get yours? Keen on hearing some hands-on experience.
Also I've noticed that there's no plexi on the thing, so wondering how easy it would be to swap out the artwork and stick some plexi on.

@Tiggi

I ended up getting the Real Arcade Pro V3 which is the one with out the sanwa buttons.

Comes standard with Sanwa Joystick but yeah buttons are Hrap, not bad buttons though.

Works great on pc just plug and play on anything from xp and up.

ALso yea there is no plexi on any of the hori's not even the VLX, you can however get plexi for it from this dude:

http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/?loc=products&cat=4

Aswell as the top loading screws, if your inlaws are in the states maybe get it sent too them. I must so though i made my artwork a laminated sticker never had a problem with it.

The TE's are alot easier too mod though than the hori's thats the only thing

What the hell!!!!!! you have people going to the states and you want too waste it on a crappy V3-SA that you can get here for R1500???

The hell take advantage of the situation lol if you have people going over then just track down a MvC2/MvC3 TE or the Special Edition Chun-Li TE or if you want to go big get a damn VLX

Why get something you can get here for a similar price?

You probably won't get too keep the box, somehow I don't see anyone getting through customs carrying a stick in it's original packaging

I wasn't aware that you could get them locally, I thought you guys had all imported yours?
Unless you mean via Takealot and their import service. Prices there for decent sticks are slightly higher than R1'5k last time I checked.

Regarding customs, they've brought bigger things through and gotten away with it, all comes down to quantity.

Yup from there, you just have to wait for the right time to order, I got mine when it dropped from R2500 to R1500. No shipping fee and no import duties. Plain straight R1500 and if that's too much pay on budget.

Just think it's a waste getting a stick from overseas that is so easy and cheap to get here.

Now you compare the VLX or Chun-li TE you save thousands on those if you get it directly in the states.

Your choice in the end just think it's silly to get such a low key item when for a little extra you could get something awesome.

Hmmm, fair enough.

Ultimately though I'm quite happy with the quality of the stick. If was only saving a few hundred then I'd just go ahead and order locally but for already R700 saving (current price on T) that makes it worthwhile in my books (I have a kid remember, I need to save where I can, budget won't cut it ).

However it does make sense to see what else is available so I'll check out how much the other TEs and VLX go for and see if it's worthwhile.
If it's a lot though then I'll likely still stick with the HRAP V3-SA. It's a good stick.

edit: Ouch, the higher tier sticks seem to average at about $300. Sure it's better than paying R4k to get it locally, but I don't see myself getting any benefit out of it over just getting the Hori.
Plus with it being so cheap I could even get 2 for when we have guests.

So last night I tinkered with a layout design, provided I end up getting a HRAP that is.

Keep in mind I'm no Photoshop wiz, but I'm fairly happy with it. Might change it a bit though, maybe cut down on the splattered paint a bit, maybe do the background a different way.
Or maybe come up with a different design altogether. Just happened to go with Asuka as she was the first character that popped in my head last night.

What do you guys think?

I found some nice Asuka pics but my Photoshop skills leave a lot to be desired.
That pic was easy as it just had a white background, others usually have other backgrounds so it would take longer for me to extract the character.

When I have time I'll play around with it some more. Maybe keep that pic but put a larger one more towards the right.

So designing this thing has turned into a fun distraction, not to mention allowing me to learn a few Photoshop tricks (though my skill is arguably still quite mediocre).

Essentially scrapped the first design altogether. I really liked that pic, but I just couldn't do much with it, and because the original was cut off, I was limited to a specific size and position.
Luckily I seem to have gotten a little bit better at cutting out characters from backdrops (not perfectly, but reasonable I think), so managed to use the pic I originally intended to.
Scrapped the mosaic for a beehive pattern just for the hell of it, and stuck a fat b/w Rei pic as a backdrop.
For the life of me, I have had very little luck creating a decent backdrop, just don't have an eye for it I guess . Not to mention that I just can't seem to design something that will complement the main character and allow me to incorporate her into it.

Anywho, long story short, here's the new design. Comments?
In the interim I've actually found better Rei pics so will likely replace that backdrop, but keeping the b/w look.

Oh, I've also decided to get the cheaper Hori FS3 (via Strife) in the interim, for both a cheap 2nd player, and to maybe even play around with m0dd1ng at a later stage. So will slap together a design for that one as well.

Oh also forgot to mention, if anyone wants a good place to find tons of artwork, in pretty decent res, check out http://oreno.imouto.org
Only anime though.
