Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 launched earlier this year to mostly positive reviews due to its quality of life improvements and quick-burst campaigns. While it initially launched on consoles and PC, fans suspected that it might get a release on Nintendo Switch 2 as well at some point. Now that we have confirmation of the $70 Switch 2 version, we also now know that the physical edition of the game will only have a code in the box.
As reported by GameSpot, the physical edition of Civilization 7 on Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t actually come with the game on a cartridge. Instead, players who purchase it will be greeted by a download code in the box, requiring players to download the entire game. It seems like the physical box is only meant for display purposes, which is a little disheartening for collectors hoping to build up their physical collection of Switch games.
