Avengers: Endgame Passes $2 Billion at Box Office, Topples Titanic
After Avengers: Endgame broke several records when, on its opening weekend, it scored an absolutely massive $1.2 billion in the worldwide box office, the train has not slowed down since. In its second week, Endgame has now crossed the $2 billion worldwide box office mark, overtaking the James Cameron-directed epic, Titanic.
According to Box Office Mojo, Endgame has now become the fifth movie in history to earn that much, matched with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic, Avatar, and Avengers: Infinity War. However, Avatar still holds a firm spot at the top with a whopping $2.7 billion, but many predict that Endgame will manage to surpass that record as well to take the throne before its theatrical run is over.
Avengers: Endgame, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, is the culmination of 22 films spread across the decade-long Marvel Cinematic Universe, so what we're seeing here is the response to ten years of Marvel films leading up to a climactic, emotionally resonant, and dramatic ending the likes of which has never been accomplished in cinema before.
