Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter
I've always been a fan of this series, and returning to this world is a real pleasure. I've completed the first two cases, rather lengthy, about 2 hours each, which is already much longer than the cases in Crimes and Punishments.
The streets of London have opened up to a degree, instead of stepping out of the office and being met with a map, you can head downstairs and walk the streets, while limited, it does give you a sense of open world game play. The younger Sherlock and Watson both retain their quirks, but Sherlock is a lot wittier and I find myself laughing at his snappy remarks.
It looks good, but notable screen tears and drops in framerate when lots is going on in a scene (I havent patched it yet), but its easy to ignore. They haven't pushed the template of the previous game by too much, its a comfortable step forward. Cases are more involved and there are many more avenues to explore in drawing up your final conclusion. There certainly is an overarching main story which is yet to unfold for me, but it seems to be heading in a good direction.
A decent amount of puzzles and new minigames keep it fresh and present every case you encounter with its own challenges and hurdles. I haven't found myself bored or tired of it yet. If you like the previous one, this is definitely worth picking up, even if you haven't played one of these before, I can highly recommend it.
