Late last year, Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, stated that E3 2012 would involve a re-unveiling for the company’s Wii U console, which was scheduled for release at an unspecified time in 2012.

Speaking with Reuters, Iwata has now confirmed that Nintendo will release the Wii U will be launched in the U.S., Europe, Japan and Australia for the year-end holiday season.

Recent comments by Iwata have also indicated that, after a harsh lesson learnt through the Nintendo 3DS launch, Nintendo plan to have stronger software available at the launch of the Wii U in order to sell the system.

Well we knew we would be in for a treat a e3 2012 since e3 2011.

I hope they change the name.

i still dont get why it looks like you can only use a single Wii U tablet for this thing... even 2 is somewhat lame but at least ok.

as for that game... i hate the new graphical style... step backwards from Origins... and looks like they are going all skylander with this game: probably gonna sell statues for that exclusive feature to work.

Take it with a pinch of salt. Some claims seems a bit out there especially the one about Unreal Engine 4.

The Pre-E3 Wii-U conference



The console still looks great to me, most likely wont get this at launch but i really want to pick one up at some stage.

I am failing to be convinced here...

I am hoping for Nintendo to pull out the stops at their proper conference.

I like the console but yeah it can very easily fall prey to the same b/s the the original Wii at launch.

So yea if they want to make it big at E3 they will need some good games to pull out, but the whole conference is going to be about games so im looking forward to it!

I think when it comes to games it has to be about what games they are offering that I cant get anywhere else.

Because really, if they are just serving up a bunch of multiplatform titles I just have to ask `why should I care?`.

Eh i think there will be decent first party titles as well. Expecting something Zelda related most likely.

I will not doubt Nintendo first party titles but those really only appeal to those who like Nintendo's IP's.

This is the issue with every Nintendo console device...

As for Zelda. I am expecting HD collection and nothing on a new title.

Yeah but really the same can be said for the other consoles as well.

I hate god of war, yet i own a ps3? Plenty of people who dislike Halo and sack boy but they own the respective console.

I get where your coming, but i don't really think people not liking first party IP's is only a nintendo related thing.

besides the Wii got some really good exclusive games that were not first party. I honestly doubt we would see any exclusives from third party at launch but i think they will come.

The multiplatform thing as anything, people who own a Wii-U wont have to buy a 360/ps3 or their next gen to play games. Sure most people who are gamer will own more than one console anyway, but they have a wider option.

I have to disagree with the relation of first party titles to Sony.

The truth of the matter is that besides GT, exclusives hardly sell the PS brand, nor do they dominate sales, unlike Nintendo (which is the complete opposite) or MS (to a smaller degree).

With Nintendo it is a massive problem, with their games always overshadowing most third party exclusives.

yeah i agree but doesn't mean third party exclusives wont come to the console. Nintendo has really strong character relations, people see nintendo they expect to see Mario, they expect to see Zelda and Kirby they are iconic around the world.

But yeah i see where your coming from, either way i want it for Zelda's, Mario's and Kirbys lol, Wont complain if we get some more delicious J-RPG's though

I missed out on the Wii, but I will not be making the same mistake with the Wii U especially when they seem to be getting the basics right. Hopefully decently priced.

New to this forum, mostly joined up to buy some 3ds stuff, but just thought I'd say that I'm stoked for the Wii U. I get the point Nintendo is trying to make in their presentation, with all the devices we have pushing us away from human interaction so it looks like they're trying to make gaming about interacting with other human beings. The facebook social model is already infecting all kinds of other areas, so why not make it more of a feature of gaming, beyond only multiplayer games.

As easy as it is to criticise the Wii, it was the clear sales winner of this generation and if they can make the wii U more appealing to the hard core gamers while still holding onto the huge casual gamers base the Wii has then everyone wins. I would consider the new controller the way they'll pull those casual gamers back to the Wii U and hopefully the online connectivity and strong games will be there for the more seriz buzniz players.

But honestly? Even if the only publisher making games for the Wii U was nintendo itself I would still probably buy it (especially if they made a new f-zero and pikmin, both too long abandoned), because there is something about their big releases that is magical.

Controller look alright but i would've preferred something like the old classic controller.

Dont get me wrong, not saying they wont come... I am sure they will.. I am sure they will be good too. But I am concerned that it might against be a short lived thing.

Still Nintendo's IP's are good.

It is an interesting CG trailer, but that is all it is. There was some gameplay shown at the preE3 Nintendo event. it could be good, but I dont know if another zombie game was what Ubisoft needed to do. Guess we will see tomorrow.
