@IkariX it's a good thing IDGAF about your opinion then, lol
It may surprise you to know that other people have different experiences to your own. But I know that concept may be too far out of reach for you.

As for Nexus, I don't know why you ban people that have legitimate points relating to polls you create. None of what I said was out of line, but clearly you prefer sycophants like IkariX on the forum instead of customers who have legitimate criticism of your logistics (which you make us pay for).

Nexushub has the best customer service no doubt. I have had other retailers that don't care about restocking on sold out titles but yet nexushub helped get me townfall steelbooks and control resonant steelbooks even though they were sold out. No one cares about delivery fees as long as you get the physical game in good condition like I have, especially steelbooks which can be fragile.

@DarkWingDuck

I'm going to call [censored] on your post. I've been buying from Nexus since the AnimeWorx days from about 2008. I have literally never ever had bad customer service from NexusHub. So you are being disingenuous. I don't think you appreciate the great lengths they go to, to get these games for us. But enjoy your other retailers and their[censored] service.

MrOde very good point! I'd pay extra for express overnight shipping.

HaseoVII SAME regarding FF7Rebirth (best believe I preordered Revelation though )

I am such a huge fan of Nexus Hub - no one else in SA imports the niche titles - I used to need to get my stuff from Amazon Japan/US

My backlog is so big I don't care how late I get my orders lol haven't even played FF7 Rebirth or even Stellar Blade yet, but that's just me.

I'd actually go even further and say do standard free shipping for all orders above R1000 but allow an express shipping option/add on for those that want to pay extra. I would gladly pay extra to get whatever I ordered the day after I order it.

Shipping costs on games? What's that?

I'm not looking to start a bad thread about this, I was really just curious because I misclicked the tab on the left and stumbled upon the poll (I'd never clicked it before).

I am fiercely brand loyal to Nexus Hub and I don't care too much about not getting a game day-1. I know other names like BT and Koodoo ship earlier so you get it on release, but I'd never be "that" excited that I must play day-1, life happens
On the other hand, paying an extra R150 every time you order a commercially available title does add up, and I would not blame the average consumer for trying to save some money.

I know I'd feel less off about it if there was a price match, and free delivery at a certain threshold.

I mean if I can save money, why wouldn't I?

Are there circumstances where I would pay that extra without thinking twice about it, yes. In general there's little reason to do so.

That said, touching on Darkwing's point of eBucks, payment options feel like a lot bigger point than the R50 delivery. Lot of places offering rewards, pay later, etc. Those are big pull points for customers.
DarkwingDuck

For niche titles it's okay. Problem is I play mainly bigger titles. Games are expensive enough as is. If I can save 50 bucks, use my ebucks (which some retailers allow) then I'm definitely going with another retailer.

Basically if I have to choose between paying delivery or not I'm going to go for not paying for delivery. On top of that, I find my Nexus orders are usually delayed. I don't think I've ever received a game on release day which is annoying when you're paying extra for delivery especially. And often you have to ask where it is which I don't think the customer should have to do, that's part of customer service.

So considering it's pretty much the end of the year what are the highlights for everyone?

It's been a pretty big year for gaming, all the next-gen consoles are out and the Wii U finally got games and found homes with a lot of gamers after it R999 flash sales lol.

However looking over at my collection their really wasn't a lot of games releases this year, my collection hasn't grown that much and not very many games stand out for me.

The year started out with a bang though both the new Devil May Cry and Tomb Raider games blew me away. Both of these are a highlight of my year. Tomb Raider was just such a fantastic game, it totally exceeded my expectations.

All in all it felt that I got a lot of quality titles and stopped buying a lot of crappy titles something I hope to carry over to 2014. Anyway here are my top 10 games of 2013.

10. Resogun
9. Pokemon X
8. Soul Sacrifice
7. Devil May Cry
6. Diablo 3
5. The Last of Us
4. The Wonderful 101
3. Rayman Legends
2. Tomb Raider
1. Super Mario 3D World

It's also the first time since the release of the first Gran Turismo title that I have not bought a Gran Turismo title on launch or even wanted to play the new one, this makes me pretty sad. I also tried a Diablo title for the first time and sunk hours and hours of time into Diablo 3 both offline on online. Felt an emotional connection with characters in The Last of Us and was brought back to old school gaming with The Wonderful 101.

So positive year of gaming for me. The biggest negative is that the Xbox One was not released in South Africa and we have to wait

Pretty uneventful year for me as far as console gaming goes, if anything all I ended up getting were downloadable titles. Some off PSN, most off Steam.
Just didn't have time for gaming, and didn't prioritize it so much.

Doubt next year will be any different, only new release I can think of that I'll get on day one will be the D3 expansion for PC. Else it'll mostly be playing stuff off the backlog.
Oh and Dark Souls 2

For all the negativity around many aspects of gaming and the new consoles, it truly has been as good a year as I remember. I've been playing a lot of classic and indie games this year but still can form a decent list of my favourites and my disappointments.

Best Games (AAA-type games):

10 - Castlevania LoS: Mirror of Fate HD (a really enjoyable throwback to classic game design and a good addition to the excellent LoS series)
9 - Lost Planet 3 (didn't expect how much fun I'd have with this)
8 - Deadly Premonition: Directors Cut PS3 (still an entertaining experience, frame-rate issues aside)
7 - Tomb Raider (as many have joked, a great uncharted game)
6 - Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm (my only online PC game and always good fun with mates)
5 - Diablo 3 console-release (it feels like the console was the natural fit all along)
4 - Xcom Enemy Within (a great modification to last year's already great game)
3 - Bioshock Infinite (riveting story and stunning environments let down only be repetitive gunplay)
2 - Metro: Last Light (not as strong as the original but still my favourite, most atmospheric, horror-ish FPS)
1 - The Last of Us (great story, devoid of most game cliches, coupled with solid 3rd-person shooter/survival gameplay)

Some disappointing/questionable games in retrospect (in no real order):

- Dead Space 3 (decent action game, shocking Dead Space sequel)
- The Bureau: Xcom Declassified (picked up by the end of the game but lacked any feel for tactical combat for the first half of the game)
- GTA V (outstanding sandbox world but the characters and story was just not as interesting and well-developed as those seen in GTA IV or RDR. Also there's eventually limit to how many side-activities/collectible quests I can do for no reason other than racking up a checklist)
- Aliens: Colonial Marines (only played it after major patches and with the story DLC and there was so much potential squandered)
- Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs (much more interesting story but with too many "gamey" elements removed)
- Shadowrun Returns (great tactical combat and character variety but very, very linear)

All in all though, still an outstanding year for gaming filled with excitement and anticipation for the next gen. Best year so far as I can remember.

Been an interesting year for gaming thats for sure. Bought more games than I probably should have. Biggest surprises for me was definitely the new Tomb Raider game and how stunning it was and the fact that I have no plans to get nor did I get GT6 on launch.

5. Assetto Corsa (Still in beta form, but best racing sim I've played.)
4. Rayman Origins (yeah I know it wasnt released this year, but its that good!)
3. Tomb Raider
2. Last of Us
1. GTA V

I'd say 2013 for me was a great year for gaming all because 2012 for me was a bit of a let down. Only enjoyed 2 games last year. My top 8 list:

8.Dragon's Crown
7.Metal Gear Rising
6.Persona 4 Arena(Best fighting game this year in my opinion)
5.GTA 5
4.Tales Of Xillia
3.Tomb Raider
2.Bioshock Infinite
1.Last Of Us

Both Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite deserve praise as i couldn't stop thinking of both these games after i finished them.

No game comes to mind that i found disappointing.
