@IkariX it's a good thing IDGAF about your opinion then, lol
It may surprise you to know that other people have different experiences to your own. But I know that concept may be too far out of reach for you.

As for Nexus, I don't know why you ban people that have legitimate points relating to polls you create. None of what I said was out of line, but clearly you prefer sycophants like IkariX on the forum instead of customers who have legitimate criticism of your logistics (which you make us pay for).

Nexushub has the best customer service no doubt. I have had other retailers that don't care about restocking on sold out titles but yet nexushub helped get me townfall steelbooks and control resonant steelbooks even though they were sold out. No one cares about delivery fees as long as you get the physical game in good condition like I have, especially steelbooks which can be fragile.

@DarkWingDuck

I'm going to call [censored] on your post. I've been buying from Nexus since the AnimeWorx days from about 2008. I have literally never ever had bad customer service from NexusHub. So you are being disingenuous. I don't think you appreciate the great lengths they go to, to get these games for us. But enjoy your other retailers and their[censored] service.

MrOde very good point! I'd pay extra for express overnight shipping.

HaseoVII SAME regarding FF7Rebirth (best believe I preordered Revelation though )

I am such a huge fan of Nexus Hub - no one else in SA imports the niche titles - I used to need to get my stuff from Amazon Japan/US

My backlog is so big I don't care how late I get my orders lol haven't even played FF7 Rebirth or even Stellar Blade yet, but that's just me.

I'd actually go even further and say do standard free shipping for all orders above R1000 but allow an express shipping option/add on for those that want to pay extra. I would gladly pay extra to get whatever I ordered the day after I order it.

Shipping costs on games? What's that?

I'm not looking to start a bad thread about this, I was really just curious because I misclicked the tab on the left and stumbled upon the poll (I'd never clicked it before).

I am fiercely brand loyal to Nexus Hub and I don't care too much about not getting a game day-1. I know other names like BT and Koodoo ship earlier so you get it on release, but I'd never be "that" excited that I must play day-1, life happens
On the other hand, paying an extra R150 every time you order a commercially available title does add up, and I would not blame the average consumer for trying to save some money.

I know I'd feel less off about it if there was a price match, and free delivery at a certain threshold.

I mean if I can save money, why wouldn't I?

Are there circumstances where I would pay that extra without thinking twice about it, yes. In general there's little reason to do so.

That said, touching on Darkwing's point of eBucks, payment options feel like a lot bigger point than the R50 delivery. Lot of places offering rewards, pay later, etc. Those are big pull points for customers.

For niche titles it's okay. Problem is I play mainly bigger titles. Games are expensive enough as is. If I can save 50 bucks, use my ebucks (which some retailers allow) then I'm definitely going with another retailer.

Basically if I have to choose between paying delivery or not I'm going to go for not paying for delivery. On top of that, I find my Nexus orders are usually delayed. I don't think I've ever received a game on release day which is annoying when you're paying extra for delivery especially. And often you have to ask where it is which I don't think the customer should have to do, that's part of customer service.

The title of the thread is pretty strange and illogical

The question is if you primarily or prefer digital or physical and if physical do you buy firsthand or secondhand

I am dirt poor so I pretty much do secondhand as much as possible

Sorry to AWX but students don't make that much cash so firsthand is a rarity for me

So what is your preferences and opinions

I only buy physical copies for two reasons:
1: I have limited access to internet.
2: If I want to play a game, I don't need to go online to see if it is available or have server related issues. I can just put the game disk in and play it.

There are few games I will buy brand new from a store.
I mainly buy games secondhand these days.

Even if I get uncapped internet, I will still buy the physical copies.

I only buy physical. If it's not available physically at all. Then I'll get the digital edition.

With digital you never really own the game.

Don't care, physical vs digital is the new fanboy war.

I have no preference, if I want a game I buy it either by going to the shops or downloading it. I see very little value in games. They are there for my enjoyment not to show off a collection.

I will say that since digital has come around I have saved a lot of money as apposed to buying physical discs. Even with the bonus of trade ins I still save more money because trade in values are crap and 2nd hand games are usually quite expensive. Evil Within for example R400-450 2nd hand I paid R300. Even without the trade in later I saved money.

Also I own a digital copy just as much as a physical copy. I can download any game I have bought even games that no longer exist on the online stores.

So my preference is where do I save money not what can I hold.

Digital for PC
Physical for Console

PS4 hard drive is way too small when compared to the size of the games. Not gonna keep deleting stuff to make space and then later have to re-download the games again. Makes no sense.

I go both TBH. Steam sales are my biggest weakness. And the sales on PSN and XBL are very tempting too. For the most part I try to support local retailers with 2nd hand purchases and because of my insane obsession with CEs my console purchases are mainly physical.

I also want to add that the 2nd hand market in Japan is amazing. Games look like they are practically new.

I generally only buy Digital. Only time I'd buy physical is on console since the digital pricing is crazy in comparison to the physical releases.

Well put DP!

Digital or Physical really doesn't matter, both are great options depending on the game or the person's budget. If you can get a great game digitally, go for it! It is the same with second hand games, you may find amazing titles for R100 - R200 and have a massive saving. Pre-owned games are also a great way to pick up games that you can no longer get new. The only downside is that you may not get all the DLC that came with the game.

I have to admit, I buy more pre-owned games than I do new. If there is a game I REALLY can't wait for though, I will gladly buy it new.

So yeah, I pretty much disregard the digital/physical and new/second hand debates and buy a game regardless. I gots me so many options, so I utilise all of them.

I prefer physical, you can also trade the ones you dont want anymore.
Lately I have been moving over to the second hand market. Games are just getting too expensive!

I still prefer physical and I like having my games on my shelf. I only have about 15 games kept from last gen and 4 currently for PS4 but they feel like an integral part of my play area. I've also got this need to hold on to some of the games I remember from important times of my life (and, if I have kids, they'll hopefully get to see what we were playing on back in the day).

Trade in value on physical games (or picking up 2nd hand games) is a great way to offset high costs, month's with multiple releases and games that just didn't gel with you (at least I don't feel like I've wasted a full price).

I still happily buy digital games like indies, all my PS Vita games. If a game I'd normally not try is discounted high enough, I'd buy it digital. otherwise something I'd play repeatedly, I'd rather pick up physical (1st or 2nd hand).

No please no I don't want fanboy wars they are so pointless but I find it interesting that so many people still love physical instead of digital considering Europe is now pushing for digital over physical

I never actually thought to place my games on display I keep them in a cupboard or large draw

I personally think that when it comes to PS Vita you should pretty just give up on physical in the euro zone

I prefer physical, but I'll get a digital edition of something if I have no other choice, and the file size isn't ginormous.
