@IkariX it's a good thing IDGAF about your opinion then, lol
It may surprise you to know that other people have different experiences to your own. But I know that concept may be too far out of reach for you.

As for Nexus, I don't know why you ban people that have legitimate points relating to polls you create. None of what I said was out of line, but clearly you prefer sycophants like IkariX on the forum instead of customers who have legitimate criticism of your logistics (which you make us pay for).

Nexushub has the best customer service no doubt. I have had other retailers that don't care about restocking on sold out titles but yet nexushub helped get me townfall steelbooks and control resonant steelbooks even though they were sold out. No one cares about delivery fees as long as you get the physical game in good condition like I have, especially steelbooks which can be fragile.

@DarkWingDuck

I'm going to call [censored] on your post. I've been buying from Nexus since the AnimeWorx days from about 2008. I have literally never ever had bad customer service from NexusHub. So you are being disingenuous. I don't think you appreciate the great lengths they go to, to get these games for us. But enjoy your other retailers and their[censored] service.

MrOde very good point! I'd pay extra for express overnight shipping.

HaseoVII SAME regarding FF7Rebirth (best believe I preordered Revelation though )

I am such a huge fan of Nexus Hub - no one else in SA imports the niche titles - I used to need to get my stuff from Amazon Japan/US

My backlog is so big I don't care how late I get my orders lol haven't even played FF7 Rebirth or even Stellar Blade yet, but that's just me.

I'd actually go even further and say do standard free shipping for all orders above R1000 but allow an express shipping option/add on for those that want to pay extra. I would gladly pay extra to get whatever I ordered the day after I order it.

Shipping costs on games? What's that?

I'm not looking to start a bad thread about this, I was really just curious because I misclicked the tab on the left and stumbled upon the poll (I'd never clicked it before).

I am fiercely brand loyal to Nexus Hub and I don't care too much about not getting a game day-1. I know other names like BT and Koodoo ship earlier so you get it on release, but I'd never be "that" excited that I must play day-1, life happens
On the other hand, paying an extra R150 every time you order a commercially available title does add up, and I would not blame the average consumer for trying to save some money.

I know I'd feel less off about it if there was a price match, and free delivery at a certain threshold.

I mean if I can save money, why wouldn't I?

Are there circumstances where I would pay that extra without thinking twice about it, yes. In general there's little reason to do so.

That said, touching on Darkwing's point of eBucks, payment options feel like a lot bigger point than the R50 delivery. Lot of places offering rewards, pay later, etc. Those are big pull points for customers.

For niche titles it's okay. Problem is I play mainly bigger titles. Games are expensive enough as is. If I can save 50 bucks, use my ebucks (which some retailers allow) then I'm definitely going with another retailer.

Basically if I have to choose between paying delivery or not I'm going to go for not paying for delivery. On top of that, I find my Nexus orders are usually delayed. I don't think I've ever received a game on release day which is annoying when you're paying extra for delivery especially. And often you have to ask where it is which I don't think the customer should have to do, that's part of customer service.

I'd be lying if I said I did not like them, but of late I'm less and less interested in earning them most are just annoying and stupid to grind out and swear at the game for.

Mostly game dependent, Catherine for one I would probably never have completed 8times and suffered through all those stages on Hard to get Gold if it was not for trophies.
It would have had a short life. (Still need the platinum, *waves fist angrily at Babel stages 2-4*)

All in all I enjoy trophies to a certain extent for some challenge but for some reason I could not care less about achievements on the xbox, if they pop or not I could not care.

If doing something (collect all the feathers in AC2) unlocks something ingame and gets an achievement, i'll likely get it then.

Unless they unlock things in the game, they're completely pointless.

I like trophies!
I’m no trophy hunter, but I always check them. If I see some fun ones, I will do them!
I like getting that “PING” when you complete a level or whatever you needed to do!
Some trophies are just there, like completing levels. But there are some very challenging & cool ones as well!
Theres on harm in having them, they don’t affect your game. & like Posty said, with the new update you can just turn off the notification! No more “PING” for you!
& like Fatal said, they are like todays version of highscores!

I also prefer trophies over the Xboxs achievements.
If somebody tells me they have 5000 achievement points, I have nothing to compare it to!
But if somebody tells me they got 60 platinum trophies, I know they have 100% 60 games! Only things is, you got to check what games? If its Kung Fu Panda or Cars, it don’t count! But if its Dark Souls *high five*

Don't see why people are so negative about trophies?

If you don't like them then don't pay attention or use the latest update and turn off the notification or just STFU about it.
You don't like them and think their stupid?
GTFO!!

Some people will like them and others will not... others will abuse them and use it as a form of bragging rights.

Get over it people, without the games there wouldn't be trophies so build a bridge and move on.
They add longevity to something that probably wouldn't have it without trophies.

Win?

Dont think people are [censored] as so much just stating they find them pointless, havent seen anyone saying omg they are ruining gaming OAO

Just that they would like some more substance to them

No Woofels, but calling something pointless or dumb or stating they add nothing IS [censored] about it.
If we didn't have trophies we would be complaining that Xbox has Achievements and PS owners don't.

I've said this before "If its popular, there will be haters"
Don't get me wrong either, I loooovvvvvveeee trophies! However I didn't spend 2500hrs playing WKC for a platinum (Well in fact I got the plat waaaayyy before then )
The trophy's for WKC added a realistic goal within the game to reach and once I got there I finally saw how much further you could take it.. which was unrealistic to someone whom only has so much free time available

People however aren't being fair and to be fair my comment is the polar opposite to the negative type comments made by some people.

They mean nothing however they mean enough to drag out opinions.
I also don't go into any thread and maliciously take shot's at people, concepts, games or whatever is being spoken of, which after spending enough time on these forums have found "certain" people love doing.

In the end though this is the internet and if you take anyone seriously you're only upsetting yourself

@Posty

Yeah but there were times people still put endless hours into games with out developers telling them what to do.

I have over 800 odd hours in the original disgaea and 500odd in 3, Disgaea 1 was waaaaay before any of this stuff comes in and 3 was shorlty before the whole trophy achievement thing came in.

From this generation too Valkyria chronicles as well, spent ages trying to get those in game awards but there where only 10 and they were not easy to get.

Back in the day games had more legitimate substance to actually keep you involved or get people wanting to do stuff like challenge & speed runs. Where as these days a hell of a lot of games feel lacking and that achievements are a cheap means of dragging the game out.

Like gears of war 2 - Seriously 2.0 trophy. You had to kill 100 0000 enemies, people did the maths and you would have to finish the game 33 freaking times with the amount of average enemies per area to unlock that.

Or another one of my favorites getting an achievement for watching the credits till the end.

God Of war HD as well there is a trophy called getting my ass kicked, They give you a trophy for sucking at the game.

I could make a mile long list of pointless ass achievements, I mean was the original purpose of these things not bragging right? Like hey look I actually managed to do some of this crazy[censored]!!!

Instead for the most part they are being dragged into extend you gameplay time by completing a whole bunch of tasks that really have nothing to do with the game. The majority of trophies are menial tasks while the minority are actually challenges when it should be he other way around.

Don't get me wrong, as I say I think trophies & achievements can be awesome. For the most part though a fair amount of developers abuse it as a way to add substance and replay value to a game that has very little.

They just need to make these things harder to get and more in tune with they was someone would actually play the game, not get awarded for dieing a few hundred times.

-------------

And yeah we need to make a plan for snoochie boochies and ff8 =p

I think what annoys me the most is all the online achievements developers throw in. Take the new Tomb Raider for eg. Thats clearly a single player game but they chucked in multiplayer because all major games have to have it now. Then they make like half the achievements for multiplayer cos they just want people to actually use the damn thing. Achievements should be limited to single player only.

Yeah tomb raider went over the top on that, one of my friends is a major tomb raider fan and she got every single single player trophy but she is miffed because getting the mulitplayer ones are ridiculous.

I agree with your original reply but again we aren't going to argue about specific games but more in general and in general the trophies are generic.

Reason I mentioned WKC is the trophies guided you and where I agree that GOW or GearsoW have silly trophies, it is completely subjective to the game.

I would say my final comment relating to trophies is:
I'm 12 years old and my parents are only going to buy me 1 game every six months and they buy me Gears of war.
In that picture it add's to the game and to that specific gamer. Not always but it at the very least the trophy/achievement caters to all types;
Those who would play a game 33 times and those who wouldn't

You are however right, games in the last 6-7 years have no comparable substance to older games.

Epic did those Seriously achievements as a 'joke' hence the name.

GEARS OF WAR 3 - SERIOUSLY 3.0

Reach level 100 and earn every Onyx medal - 100G

This series has a history of tough achievements. In the original Gears of War, the 'Seriously' achievement required 10,000 kills, while 'Seriously 2.0' in the sequel demanded you slay 100,000 enemies.

For Seriously 3.0 the bar has been raised even higher, as unlocking the full set of 65 Onyx medals involves at least 18,000 matches, 70,000 kills and much much more spread across Horde, Versus and Beast modes, taking hundreds of hours of online scrapping to rack up the required numbers.
