So the Q4 gaming release schedule/time/saga whatever is here and all our old friends/foes like Assassins Creed and Call of Duty and some sports games are making their return to grace our consoles/PCs with their latest iterations.

With that in mind, I think its time to think back/lament on some of the gaming franchises we haven't seen in ages and wished for a return. OF course franchises that have games in the works (Be it development hell, or definitive releases) don't count (or do they, opinions differ on the matter).

So which gaming franchise do you miss the most and deserves to come back from the grave to throw these pretenders of their thrones?

Personally, I think its high time Command and Conquer comes back. With its cheesy so bad-its-good Live action cinematics, outrageous weaponry, and fast paced game-play its a real shame the franchise has gone into hiatus (thanks EA?)

Sure the Tiberium Wars may have ended (with the awful C&C4) but the Red Alert and Generals universes are still ripe for the picking...especially Generals...

Valve's Franchises are def in need of a return (L4D3, Portal 3?)

Also a new Shenmue game would be amazing, but Yakuza seems to be filling that spot...kinda

A fan is remaking Shenmue in Unreal Engine 4.

Onimusha - The whole series was amazing but I'll never forget Dawn of Dreams, one of the best games I have ever played and poured so many hours into it.



Bujingai - I would love a sequel to this, game was awesome, still remember playing this way back and just loving the environment and combat.



Genji - Amazing game on PS2, they royally stuffed it up on PS3 but hopefully they can make a return on PS4?



NightShade and Shinobi remake - In one collection, damn we can dream





Super Dragonball Z - This series had so much potential especially with some of the original staff that worked on Street Fighter 2, sadly now they just give us some crappy fly around game with very little fighting mechanics, in other words a brain dead game.



Sword of Berserk - One of the few reason to own a Dreamcast back in the day, why can't someone make a proper game again? Closest we got was Dragons Dogma and that small sliver was amazing.



Narutimate Accel - Why they killed this off and went for the 3D crap is beyond me, this series was amazing and just got better and bete as time went on, I anticipated the release of this and even paid for 2 day international shipping to get these damn games, how the mighty have fallen. CC2 you guys suck now, go back to the good stuff for PS4:



Capcom vs SNK - Come on guys make it happen!!!!



Metroid Prime 4 - Don't think my heart could take it

I pretty much want all of Capcoms old school fighters to return (Tired of Street Fighter)

Agree with Onimusha (actually really surprised we never got one on PS3) and Genji PS2. Damn I couldn't believe how pretty Genji looked back in the day.

@Scottie - difinately Darksiders 3 needs to emerge from somewhere and I'd be keen to see another Rage game - I really enjoyed the setting, shooting and RPG-lite elements but the story ended with a whimper.

What I'd love to see is Bioware team-up with Obsidian (once they're done with DA:I and "Pillars of Eternity" respectively) and make an isometric Baldur's Gate 3 (or any other Forgotten Realms franchise).

A proper CRPG full of diverging and converging paths in which your characters/party choice make a huge change in how you experience the game.

I recently started playing DA2 in preparation for DA:I, specialised as a Blood Mage, and the story becomes ridiculous as so much of the game is about blood magic and confronting blood mages. It never introduces any variation to the party/enemy interactions based on your character/specialisation choice.

@Lurch - yeah never even used the BFG (or whatever it was called) in my first play through, was saving it for the Prime Baddie .........

So, so many.

Off the top of my head a Warcraft as an RTS (WC IV). Wing Commander and Privateer series, Xwing Series, Jedi Knight Series, Quest games (especially Police Quest).
