@DEATHGIGAS
They have it listed here: https://nexushub.co.za/product/control-resonant-pid285827.html

Just keep in mind that the physical edition was delayed from Remedy's side, so releases like a month after digital.

Ironic thing. There is going to be an album for GTA6. And it will be available on both CD and Vinyl.

So clearly it's about control for Sony and Rockstar, not wanting you to own games. But you can own a CD and Vinyl. Both are crappy companies. I really want to see Sony crash and burn so hard. But the way Sony is going, it might be sooner, rather than later.

So cap com reckons that this will endear them to the fans? And think that it will help with sales? What about replay value, I am sure enough guys would like to play this more tha once and will think twice about this purchase now.

Well for what it is worth, prelim data seems to suggest that RE: Mercs 3D failed to make the top 15 (might have missed top 20) in its 4th week of sales in Japan. Seems like it has been outlasted by One Piece 3DS (which has been on the market for a whole extra week) and Patapon 3 (2 months).

Poor sales are one thing, but unless they can attribute some of that loss to this insane form of DRM then Capcom and some other stupid publisher may just decide to stick with this. Honestly I doubt it, as most games encourage multiple playthroughs with trophies and other rewards, but it is a scary thought and EA's implementation of an online pass system doesn't seem so bad now

Suppose it is a way to combat 2nd hand sales. Not sure how they would do it on console though unless they made it so the game save could never be removed without a full format of the system but suppose it could work for the 3DS.

Would rather have this than a developer increasing the price of games by R300

I'm torn between never buying a Capcom game again or just laughing myself to tears... they're going to lose money doing this....

@DP if they start increasing game prices to nigh on R1k, they will probably price themselves out of the market and just strengthen the 2nd hand market. People are very price sensitive at the moment and I think that any price increases would hurt the market immeasurably. They need to start looking at innovative ways to get involved in the 2nd hand market, maybe working out a trade in system on newer games or some sort of rebate system. There has to be a better way than to make a game a one playthrough, one save game?

hmm how will they have replay value if u cant replay it... then it should be cheaper for the games... its like going on the merry go round once and paying R600 for it... but u will keep all ur unlocks so it can just look pretty

The irony of all of this is that apparently the game is light on content

But lets be real... ever since this game was announced we knew gamers would be ripped off.

Highly stupid way trying to combat the second hand market, it may work but its a stupid idea and its going to hurt the sales alot.

Why developers just dont offer a online unlock feature for second hand games i dont know, it's not like any of the console today cant access the internet.

If i have to pay 50 bucks extra to play a second hand game i got for R250 compared too paying R500 - R700 price tags we see these days im still happy to pay 50 bucks extra, still getting it for cheaper than i would new with out waiting 6 months - 1 year for a price drop.

The game stores can continue to thrive and dev's can get i cut of it, the devs just must not get greedy and make it a reasonable price.

Well nothing in that article states that it is never going to happen again, just they it most likely won't. But anyhow, I think they will drop the idea.
