So it's now official nintendo screwed up with the 3DS lol.

Sales for the console has been so bad as of august the 11th, the 3DS will retail for $170 (R1'150.00) compared to it's $249 (R1'684.00) launch price.

While we dont get those kind of prices here, hopefully it means the 3DS will be knocked under the 2k mark.

But for salty owners who purchased the system early aslong as you've connected too the nintendo e-store atleast once by august 11, you will get 20 free games too download which isnt too bad.

As for the price drop, thats a good thing for consumers wanting to buy one. That puts the 3DS into the R1995 range I think. Which is pretty much the same price as the DS Lites (or whatever was the latest version of that machine that was out) was going for.

Whether or not the 3DS will survive once the PSPVita is available is another story. Nintendo needs to get the games for this out the gate already.

Nintendo will release the 3DS Circle Pad Pro attachment, which adds an extra thumbstick to the handheld, alongside Resident Evil: Revelations on 27th January.

Revelations, the first game to launch in Europe that supports the add-on, will come bundled with the Circle Pad Pro.

Gamers will also be able to buy and play Revelations without the optional device.

The Circle Pad Pro adds an extra thumbstick and additional shoulder buttons to the 3DS. It envelopes the handheld, making the 3DS wider and deeper, and requires an AAA battery to operate.

It launches first in Japan next month alongside Monster Hunter Tri G.

"It feels like they've done their very best to solve an essentially intractable problem," Eurogamer's Fred Dutton said after going hands-on with the Circle Pad Pro in September. "It's an extremely competent hatchet job, but a hatchet job nonetheless."

Nintendo's much-derided 3DS Circle Pad Pro accessory has a beefy battery life of 480 hours, according to the device's manual (posted online by Andriasang).

That's about 100 times longer than the console itself.

The 3DS Circle Pad add-on bestows a second analogue slider and extra shoulder buttons on the handheld. It requires a single AAA battery to run.

Having 480 hours of battery life should placate gamers concerned at the need to use a screwdriver to access the device's battery compartment.

The 3DS Circle Pad Pro is available in Japan this weekend with Monster Hunter Tri G and launches on 27th January in Europe alongside Resident Evil: Revelations.

Well the pricedrop and the 2 new Mario games seem to have done the trick. For December the 3DS was the bestselling games console in Japan.
