Busy playing the beta and oh man this game is fun.

It's not like other MMO's where it feels like you have to party or take ages to get anything done.

Cannot wait for the full game, so much to do and the world itself is just awesome. Feels alive and the npc's are funny as hell.

yes, but its supposedly really cheap

been enjoying the beta quite a bit although i stopped playing after they reset the character data a couple of times, all that level grinding for nothing

nope didn't play the original, don't think woofels did either?
I only started playing when they opened up the beta earlier this year

i heard the original was a complete mess though

Reading up a bit more on this game so that I can decide between getting the PC or PS3 version. Found this on Wikipedia

The user interface and game controls are different between PC and PlayStation 3 versions. PC players have the option of using any combination of a keyboard, mouse, and controller to play, and the system is navigated via point and click widgets. PlayStation 3 players may use a controller by itself, or a controller and keyboard combination. Navigation on the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV is accomplished via an XrossMediaBar-like interface, called "Cross Hot Bar", due to PlayStation users' familiarity with the set-up.[7] This bar is used to access all menus, maps, logs, and configuration options. The head-up display for both versions includes a message log, party status menu, mini-map, and action bar. The player may customize location of all of these elements.[8]

The action bar and battle command input method differs slightly between the PC and PlayStation 3 version. The PC version supports both point and click and number pad selection of commands or macros from the action bar. Macro commands are customizable sequences of actions that allow players to execute complex maneuvers with precise timing. The Cross Hot Bar on the PlayStation 3 version instead maps the action bar and macros to shortcuts located in four horizontally arranged icon sets in the lower part of the screen. These are the grouped and accessed through a combination of the L2 and the R2 buttons and the directional pad or the face buttons. Using each shoulder button to cycle through the cross sets, players have quick access to commands. This interface is also available to PC gamers who play with gamepads

never played the original, everyone who played it said the game was such a [censored] up, and payment in SA was a bitch etc...

This game though is easily one of the best MMO's I have played.

Been playing the BETA through on PC and PS3, they both work on the same server so it does not matter which platform you choose, you can play with your friends.

Personally I prefer playing on the pc purely because the mouse and keyboard work so well for MMO's, but the game pad mapping is really nice and works pretty damn well once you get the hang of it.

I think i will need to get the PS3 one. My PC is old now and I am sure it won't do the game justice with its current specs.

have you tried running the benchmark app? try the benchmark and see how it runs or even better try look around on the web for some beta codes then you can try out ps3/pc versions and see which one you prefer.if i ever do pick up the game i'm also leaning towards the pc version. i saw just this week they were giving away 1000 beta codes on gamesradar.com(although i think they ran out in a couple of mins )

Download it an try it out, my laptop isnt the best and I can run it at 1376 X 768 at medium spec so it really is not the power hungry beast the first game was.

Yea I saw they had a brenchmark tool, but I fotgot to run it last night. Will try remember tonight. Will keep an eye out for those beta keys too

Awesome stuff, btw for people interested one account works across both systems.

So even if you start on ps3 and decide to move to pc or visa vera the account, with all your time will work on either or.

You do how ever need an original copy of both clients.

it's a good 10 minute long bench mark and has all the settings from lowest to highest

Tried the Benchmark tool and you guys were right; it doesn’t need that much to run on. My setup is +-5 years old now and it scored Fairly High on Maximum. The FPS is still very low so still deciding on the platform.

@DG I’ll bring a CD with the benchmark for you next time I come past the shop

Also my laptop meets the Skyrim recommended settings & Crysis 3 minimum, so it should be ok. I'm playing GW 2, DC U & Old Republic just fine, so this shouldnt be much of a problem either.
