Description
This journey takes place in the northern islands collectively known as Obelia Gulf.
In this harsh land, the young adventurer Adol Christin encounters the Normans, a seafaring people, and is quickly drawn into the conflict between them, the residents of Obelia Gulf, and the Griegr, undying monsters with a mysterious agenda.
Partnering up with the Norman warrior Karja, Adol must take to the waters of Obelia Gulf, navigating vast stretches of ocean, consulting maritime maps, and even getting into naval battles with enemy ships.
This latest title in the Ys series takes us back to a younger Adol as he sets out on the open sea. Join him in his pursuit of the thrill of adventure!

Teamwork is the key!
Raven Boundstones
Interacting with Raven Boundstones, found in places like dungeons, will temporarily release Adol and Karja from their Mana shackles.
Once separated, Adol and Karja can be controlled independently of each other and switched between with the press of a button. You will have to get them to coordinate while separated in order to progress.
Helm a ship with sea charts as your guide - Sail the Ocean Blue!
Take the helm of your ship, the Sandras, and explore Obelia Gulf, the site of a new adventure!
Traverse the various regions of the gulf using information gathered in town or through your sea chart.
Battle against enemy ships at sea and map undiscovered islands!
An epic voyage across the vast Obelia Gulf
The Sandras
You can travel across the seas freely or let the Auto feature take the wheel for you.
There are three different camera perspectives to switch between, including Dynamic Mode, which lets you view your voyage from behind the helm for a more realistic experience.
Additionally, you can use the power of Mana to activate Mana Sail, granting a temporary burst of speed!
Different cannonballs for different situations!
Sea Battles vs. Enemy Ships
While at sea, you may come across enemy ships crewed by the undead. Helm the Sandras and fire different kinds of cannonballs to send them to the briny deep!
Activating Mana Barrier summons a giant shield that temporarily protects the Sandras from hostile attacks. You can also deal massive damage to enemy ships by ramming into them while Mana Shield is active!
Take the fight to the enemy decks!
Abordage
Powerful enemy ships have Durability Meters. Depleting this gauge with the Sandras's attacks will bring them to a halt. Use such opportunities to board the enemy ship and engage its crew in close-quarters combat!
Abordages consist of standard battles where you take control of Adol and Karja on the deck of the enemy ship! Win the battles and obtain rare items from the treasure chests kept aboard!
Be wary of false colors...
Trading with Merchant Ships
Every now and then you'll spot a vessel in the distance while sailing around Obelia Gulf. Use your spyglass to determine whether or not it's a merchant ship and then head over and trade with them if they are!
Items can be bought with gold or exchanged for using materials you've gathered on your adventures. Some rare items can only be obtained through merchant ships.
Be careful who you approach, though, because you may stumble across fake merchant ships run by Griegr!
Build up your crew!
Function Expansion
When a new character joins the Sandras as crew members, the ship's basic stats will increase based on the character's traits!
If a character with special skills or knowledge joins your crew, they may add new features—such as shops to save you a trip to a town or merchant ship—or even trigger special events or quests.

Spin Nornir's Spindle!
Mana String
A Mana Action that launches a string of Mana, letting you swing to faraway areas!
Enhancing this Mana Action grants a stronger string that can be used to move objects or even activate switches in dungeons!
Grab your Gullinboard!
Mana Ride
A Mana Action that lets you hover above ground on the Gullinboard!
Get a feel for a variety of high-speed experiences, such as traveling atop water surfaces, skating swiftly on Mana Rails, or catapulting through the sky from wind streams.
Unleash the might of Mana!
Mana Burst
A charged attack that releases a wave of elemental Mana—fire for Adol, ice for Karja!
In addition to damaging enemies, these actions can be used to open up new routes, such as by burning up ivy or creating platforms of ice.
Sharpen those senses!
Mana Sense
A Mana Action that lets you see things you normally can't by peering through the Druid's Monocle!
This allows you to locate enemies, detect traps or switches, and even find items buried in the ground.
Enhancing the Druid's Monocle will hone your Mana Sense and slow down time around you, giving you the ability to get through doors that you otherwise couldn't, or race across footholds before they fall.
