The recent Star Trek movie reboots and CBS's Star Trek: Discovery have helped to push Star Trek back into the limelight. Now CBS is bringing back one of Starfleet's finest captains with Star Trek: Picard, a show based around Star Trek: The Next Generations Jean-Luc Picard, played by the ever amazing Patrick Stewart.
Picard will be set 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis and will tie into the movie reboots, specifically J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek and the events that transpired within. Picard finds Jean-Luc retired from Starfleet and tending a wine farm, with some hints that something terrible had happened to make him quit. It will be interesting to see what exactly brings Picard back into the fold after so long away.
Right now the exact details of the shows plot are been kept under wraps, but we can expect to hear more closer to the shows release. With only ten episodes in the first season, we can expect a much tighter show and, hopefully, a larger budget thanks to the success of the Discovery.
No release date for the show has been set but it will begin sometime in 2019. In the meantime, take a loot at the shows first teaser trailer below.
