The live-action Until Dawn movie from Lights Out director David F. Sandberg has officially wrapped filming ahead of the movie’s release in October 2025. It’s based on the 2015 interactive horror video game from Supermassive Games, following a group of young adults who journey to a remote cabin on a snowy mountain only to be stalked by a killer and other horrors of the night.
David F. Sandberg posted on his Instagram account that filming had wrapped on the live-action Until Dawn movie. However, viewers will have to wait one year until they can see the final cut of the movie. The script is written by Gary Dauberman, who previously wrote the Annabelle series, It: Chapter Two and recently directed Salem’s Lot, an adaptation of Stephen King’s popular horror novel.
While the Until Dawn video game already featured a cast of well-known actors like Hayden Panettiere and Rami Malek, the live-action adaptation has recast the group with new actors. It will star Maia Mitchell, Odessa A’zion, Michael Cimino, Ella Rubin, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli and Willem van der Vegt. Peter Stormare, who played Dr. Hill in the video game, will reprise his role as the doctor in the movie as well.
The synopsis for Until Dawn reads:
“One year after the death and disappearance of twin sisters Hannah and Beth, eight friends (Sam, Josh, Mike, Jessica, Ashley, Chris, Emily, and Matt) return to the cabin in the mountains belonging to the parents of their friend Josh, brother of the missing sisters. Shortly after arriving, the friends realize that they may not be the only people on this mountain.”
