The first trailer for Tron: Ares has been released by Disney, featuring actors Jared Leto, Evan Peters and Jeff Bridges. The follow-up to 2010’s Tron: Legacy, Ares focuses on a future where the digital world is seamlessly and fully integrated into reality as AI threatens to run amok. It’s quite relevant for our times considering the rise of AI but most importantly, it has a cool soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails.
The trailer for Tron: Ares wipes the cast of Tron: Legacy in favour of new faces including Jared Leto as Ares, a digital soldier who arrives on Earth on a dangerous mission that merges the digital world of Tron with reality. American Horror Story’s Evan Peters joins the cast alongside Greta Lee, Gillian Anderson and Cameron Monaghan who you might recognise as Cal Kestis from the Star Wars Jedi games. Jeff Bridges is the only character from the previous movies reprising his role as Kevin Flynn.
The trailer for Tron: Ares is lit with 1980s neon, red and blue light cycles, and plenty of stunning shots of the digital world melding with reality. We’ve never seen a Tron movie tackle this concept before, so it will be exciting to see what director Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) comes up with.
Taking a few notes from Daft Punk’s legendary soundtrack for Tron: Legacy, Nine Inch Nails will be composing the music for Tron: Ares. Their first single for the movie, “As Alive As You Need Me to Be”, can be heard in the trailer and is currently available to stream. The completed soundtrack will consist of 24 songs in total. Nine Inch Nails lead man Trent Reznor and composing partner Atticus Ross also created the music for award-winning movies like The Social Network and Challengers.
Tron: Ares arrives in cinemas on 10 October 2025. Watch the latest trailer below:
