The reasoning for the protocol is great and should be universally endorsed and enforced but some wording is open to abuse by certain countries.

UN is making good usage of their time adding a new protocol that could ban anime, manga, light novels, figures and sculptures and i guess a lot video games as well.

The Friday Files: 4 Games that need a remake or remaster

by Jarred Milner on 09 February, 2018

    2   3

Ever since the current gen launched there has been much debate over the necessity of remakes and remastered games. At first, people complained that it was a money-making scheme – “the games we are getting are just the old games with better graphics”. I remember the fury well. As time has gone by, the place for remakes and remastered games has grown and grown. Now we are at the point whereby the majority welcome new editions of an old game. The Nintendo Switch is largely about porting over old Wii U titles and Indie games, and rightly so.

Shadow of the Colossus is the latest to get the treatment, and while I have not played it (don’t hate me), it’s supposedly nothing short of magnificent. So, as always, it got me wondering about what other games could use a remake or remaster. Here are 4 such games in my humble opinion.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

You may have seen that Splinter Cell: Conviction recently released on Xbox One Backwards Compatibility, and while it’s a fantastic game, it’s not quite along the lines of the original Splinter Cell games. Many will argue over how one game managed to wrestle the stealth genre away from Metal Gear Solid, and that is Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. It’s Sam Fisher at his very best, using gadgets and guile to overcome a fierce enemy. Nobody does it with more style. There was a 3DS version of the game that released, and the graphics enhanced trilogy that was "remastered" but a full-blown remake for the PS4/Xbox One/Switch would be most welcome.

Circus Charlie

Okay now, hear me out. Circus Charlie was one of my favourite games back on the NES, many moons ago. It was a brutally difficult platformer that had you literally jumping through hoops, amongst other things. A remake of the game using the Rayman art (for example), adding music and a storyline to it could be pretty spectacular. I mean who doesn’t want to join the circus right?

Fear Effect

Yes, there is a new Fear Effect being developed, or apparently, there is, but who knows what is happening there. Personally, I'm hoping that the kickstarter works out as I'd happily take a remake of the original games on current-gen. It blended puzzles with action wonderfully, had awesome characters and a fantastic storyline. Its comic book style just adds to the awesomeness. Please, can we have the remake already? PLEASE.

Smugglers’ Run

I’m not sure how many people, if any, will remember this game, but it was easily one of the greatest back when the PS2 first released. I was quite young when I played it, and remember driving buggies in the desert transporting various amounts of contraband while trying to escape enemies, law enforcement and whatever else appears on the horizon. It had a great premise, if nothing else, and definitely something that could be developed into something more.

Sarcasm and irony are his greatest tools, sport, adventure and shooting all the fools. Platformers =admiration, horror games = contempt, plans to live forever or die in the attempt.

@DG - Fully back both your choices. The Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver games would be a perfect fit in a generation in which Uncharted and Tomb Raider have sold millions.

Circus Charlie can burn. That game still haunts my nightmares and ruined part of my childhood.
DEATHGIGAS
A better remaster of the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Trilogy. Sorry Ubi, you done messed that up. As always, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver trilogy.
KnightFall500
Manhunt 1 & 2 & The Warriors.
