Sony is Reportedly Quite Confident in Fairgame$
The internal reception of Fairgame$, the upcoming heist multiplayer game from Jade Raymond and Haven Studios, is reportedly very positive as Sony is confident in the project. This report comes hours after PlayStation decided to pull the plug on its latest live service multiplayer shooter, Concord, after only being available for two weeks.
According to GamesIndustry.biz journalist Chris Dring, internal talks at Sony about Fairgame$ is apparently quite positive. Haven Studios is reportedly committed to making the game work and plan on supporting it well after launch. “I’ve heard good things about Jade Raymond’s game, Fairgame$,” said Dring. “So I know people are a bit skeptical about the trailer, but I’ve heard that the internal conversations about it are very positive.”
“These other projects, which I assume are the ones they’re focusing on, are the ones they’re going to bet on,” Dring added. “They’re going to launch it, they’re going to support it and try to make it work.”
Fairgame$ is a heist multiplayer game with similar gameplay elements to the Payday series, so it doesn’t exactly have a lot of stiff competition on the market. This is one of many live service games currently in development at Sony. The game was officially announced back in May 2023 though we’ve heard little updates about it since then. Mathieu Leduc, the creative director at Haven Studios, spoke confidently about Fairgame$ in a PlayStation blog post when it was announced:
“Fairgame$ will give you an opportunity to break the rules as a modern-day Robin Hood, a thrill seeker, or just someone who wants to collect cool loot. Trespass inside forbidden locations around the world, fill your pockets like a kid in a candy store and unravel the nefarious plans of untouchable billionaires.”
Of course, it’s difficult to see any positivity in these comments at the moment considering that Concord was barely given two weeks on the market before Sony revealed that it was shutting the live service game down. Hopefully Fairgame$ will have better odds.
