Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Will Skip The Game Awards
The long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will not be shown at The Game Awards this year, Ubisoft has confirmed. The remake was first announced several years ago to a mostly negative reception from fans who criticised its more cartoonish visual style and character models over the original. This led to numerous development setbacks over the years, though Ubisoft assures fans that it’s still on its way.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is currently scheduled to launch in early 2026 – Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson claims it’s aiming for a release date of 16 January 2026. This should mean that marketing will begin ramping up this month as its release draws nearer but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Ubisoft responded to rumours that it could be shown at The Game Awards next week on X, stating: “Sorry to disappoint, but can confirm Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time won’t be at TGA this year.”
As of writing, Ubisoft has yet to actually announce an official release date for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. Considering we’ve barely seen any new gameplay of the updated title so far, it’s likely that it will launch a bit later than reported. Ubisoft previously stated that the game willl launch before March 2026 so fans will have to keep their fingers crossed.
In related news, Ubisoft is still hiring for Beyond Good and Evil 2 despite several years of delays. After going years without hearing or seeing anything related to the sequel, it seems like Ubisoft is still quietly working on it as it recently put out a job listing seeking a technical sound designer. The sequel was originally announced nearly two decades ago. It’s hard to say how far along it is in development at this stage.
