A new version of the DualSense Controller has leaked online called the “DualSense V2”. According to a Best Buy listing, this new controller looks identical to the current lineup but features a beefy new battery which almost doubles its lifespan from 4-6 hours (if you’re lucky) to 12 hours.

The DualSense V2 hasn’t officially been announced yet. According to the store listing, the controller also comes with a DualSense Charging Dock, which up to now, has been an optional purchase for gamers. Sony has been selling these charging docks at quite a low price point for a while now so it makes sense to finally include them in the bundle.

Apart from the improved battery life, the DualSense V2 looks identical to the current controller on the market. Keep in mind that Sony did revamp its DualSense Controller slightly back in 2022 when the company released the Pink, Blue and Purple models.

These versions of the controller came with stronger trigger springs and thicker analogue magnet strips which aimed to improve the general lifespan of the unit. However, Sony didn’t include these improvements in the White, Black and Red controllers. The DualSense V2 is currently a white model which means it will likely have those improvements alongside the better battery life.

The DualSense Controller is a great device but the battery life is a major issue. If you’re playing a game that makes use of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, the battery can last as little as two hours. This new DualSense V2 might fix that with a much beefier battery.

We don’t know if Sony is going to officially announce this controller. We also don’t know exactly what size battery cell the controller includes. We’ll have to wait for someone to get their hands on the controller and tear it apart first. We also have no clue whether or not Sony will ship other colours of the DualSense in this new V2 model and how customers will tell them apart when shopping around for a replacement.
