Stan Lee, the prolific writer, editor and publisher behind iconic comic book characters such as Spider-Man, X-Men, Black Panther, Iron Man, Thor, and Fantastic Four, among many other Marvel properties, has passed away at age 95.
As announced by The Hollywood Reporter, Lee has died at age 95, after a fulfilled life in the comic book scene, as well as the cinematic empire that followed. Lee has become embedded in pop culture forever, being an instantly recognizable face when sighted in various Marvel films. Lee has made cameo appearances in every single Marvel Cinematic Universe film, as well as in the 90s and 2000s for the rising superhero genre that began with Bryan Singer's X-Men and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.
Above all, Lee is viewed as the father of Marvel, the renowned comic book giant that includes a large and versatile roster of superheroes - many of which Lee created. Alongside Steve Ditko, Lee created the iconic Spider-Man, which stands as their most famous character, and one of the most popular comic book characters of all time.
Here at Nexus, Stan Lee certainly meant a lot to us. It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to a man, a legend, that has brought light into our lives with extraordinary stories and characters, filled many of us with purpose and excitement, and made us feel young every single time we opened up a Marvel comic, or watched a movie. May he rest in peace, and live on in our hearts.
Writer. Enthusiast of all things geek. Legend has it he completed Final Fantasy VII without a memory card.
