@Tea, it sounds like a solid workaround and nudging one in the right direction.

I think what also contributes to my initial post is that there are so many games this generation year after year delivering AAA and even AA titles that excels. I think in the long run console gaming, or even just the games, is getting pretty expensive. This generation already saw what the market is doing with price hikes a year after launching base models. This in itself doesn’t make software any less expensive . Nintendo made a benchmark on new titles by charging $80 a game. The rest will follow suit.

My objective opinion is that we can already see what the next generation is going to offer in terms of hardware. Example, the price tag of the PS5 Pro is the next benchmark for the PS6 base model. Sustainable? Is it still following the cheapest way of getting to game? Philosophy one-o-one.

i get it too tbh - remedy it with 2 things.

1. A genuine break from games (read/ hike/ tv series etc.)

or

2. Select a completely random game I usually wouldn't play , and give that a go~

Those two get me gaming again!

Goooooood mornin’ NexusHub (que Good Morning Vietnam soundtrack),

Do you ever experience gaming fatigue? It’s a phase now and again talking with respects to myself. I’m just wondering if it is a reality to feel this way. I mean, I’ll never give up on my most favorite art medium, sometimes I just manage to take a breather - of courselife happens in between and gaming would never be the same since you hit the adult world full of responsibilities.

Mafia: The Old Country Gets August Release Date With $50 Price

by Sam Aberdeen on 09 May, 2025

    3   3

2K Games has announced an August release date for Mafia: The Old Country and much to everyone’s surprise, it won’t conform to the $70 price most AAA games seem to be released at these days. Instead, players will be able to pick up the new Mafia title for $50, promising a more linear experience than its open-world predecessors (and a presumably shorter playtime).

2K Games confirmed that Mafia: The Old Country will release on 8 August 2025 on consoles and PC with a $50 price tag for the standard edition. All pre-orders for the game include the Soldato DLC Pack, which includes the “Soldato” outfit, the “Scannaturi Speciale” knife, the “Tesoro” horse and accessories, and the “Lupara” charm. Signing up for a free 2K account will also get you the “Garzia Tumulto Race Car.”

The digital-only deluxe edition of Mafia: The Old Country will release for $60 and come with the following items:

Mafia: The Old Country base game
Digital Art Book
Digital Soundtrack
Padrino Pack
“Lupara Speciale” Shotgun
“Vendetti Speciale” Pistol
“Immortale” Charm
“Padrino” Outfit
“Stiletto Speciale” Knife
“Eckhart Speciale” Limousine
“Cosimo” Horse and Accessories
Gato Nero Pack
“Bodeo Nero” Pistol
“Velocità” Charm
“Gatto Nero” Racing Outfit
“Carozella Nero” Race Car
Soldato Nero Pack preorder bonus

2K President David Ismailer stated in a recent press release:

“We think there’s a large audience for compelling stories that don’t require massive time commitments. We’re excited to offer a game like Mafia: The Old Country in our portfolio, and to provide a linear highly-polished narrative experience that can easily complement the other more persistent games our players also love and engage with on a more consistent basis.”

It seems like Mafia: The Old Country will offer a more “linear, narrative-driven” experience than prior games in the franchise, though many have praised this decision as we rarely see publishers adjust AAA game prices accordingly, especially below the $70 industry standard (which will soon become $80 thanks to Nintendo and Xbox following suit).

Mafia: The Old Country releases on 8 August 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

There's been a more than a few games over the last two years that have launched at $40-50 equivalent and done better for it. Not seen the original source, but Steam data apparently shows $50 is the price at which PC gamers are likely to pick up a new AAA-style title at or near launch, rather than waiting on deep sales down the line.

R999/R1190 respectively on Xbox store. Been in my wishlist for months. Got a 'you may like' notification about three games that I did add to my wishlist. Little Nightmares III and Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus II the other two.

Someone is spying on me I suspect.
