Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Revealed – Next Game From Naughty Dog
Naughty Dog, the PlayStation first-party studio behind The Last of Us, Uncharted and Crash Bandicoot, announced a brand new game at The Game Awards 2024 titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The game’s announcement closed off the show – unfortunately we didn’t get much in the way of a release date but it seems to have been in development since 2020. The game will star You and Mortal Kombat 2 actress Tati Gabrielle as the lead and will be directed by Neil Druckmann.
The reveal trailer for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet sets up an interesting sci-fi premise but it’s one still shrouded in a lot of mystery. Druckmann stated that the game was largely inspired by the popular sci-fi anime Cowboy Bebop and Akira, which is paid homage to in the game’s trailer depicting a classic anime series being shown on an old television.
Naughty Dog provided some story details on the game shortly after its announcement. Tati Gabrielle plays Jordan A. Mun, a space-faring bounty hunter who ends up stranded on a dangerous, mysterious planet called Sempiria. The studio explains:
“Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.”
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Oscar-winning composers on movies such as The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, will score the game.
“On behalf of the entire team at Naughty Dog, thank you to all our fans!” said Druckmann on the blog post. “Your support allows us to work on our dream games, bringing these wonderful new worlds and characters to life. We can’t wait to show you more!”
