PlayStation's latest State of Play event was sparse on big announcements (as they aligned our expectations for a mostly indie-dominated show), but we did get updates on a couple of anticipated upcoming major releases. Next to Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, Counterplay Games and Gearbox Software's Godfall presented our first deep dive into the gameplay - and thanks to the footage clarifying combat and classes in the game, we can all sleep a little better now.

Godfall's 9-minute gameplay walkthrough revealed at State of Play showcases two out of five weapon classes: Longsword and Dual Blades. Before obvious comparisons are made to the Monster Hunter series, they did do a good enough job of distinguishing these weapon types and combat within the framework of Godfall's mechanics and world - despite trying to find another way to essentially say "counter." The Dual Blades, in particular, are fast, aggressive, and flashy weapons that make mobility the key focus, while the Longsword favours precision, timing, and counters for maximum effect.
