Earlier this year Frostpunk’s The Last Autumn DLC released and brought with it a brand new scenario for seasoned veterans to take on. Now the games third and final major DLC expansion, On The Edge, has been released and delivers another great scenario to play through.
On The Edge puts players into the shoes of an outpost leader. A large army warehouse has been discovered on the edge of a cliff and you’ve been tasked with establishing a functional outpost nearby. The outpost’s main task is to send resources from the warehouse back to New London. While it sounds easy enough on paper, things escalate rather quickly and what was once a simple task, turns into a battle for survival and independence.
On The Edge begins with players having to quickly build up their outpost settlement and start pulling resources out of the abandoned army warehouse. New London will send a shipment of food to you every day but expects you to send back steel from the warehouse. As time goes on, New London starts to cut your food rations and eventually relations with the base of operations starts to decline. Dissent increases and Hope falls because of this, and much like in the original Frostpunk campaign, as well as in The Last Autumn, players will once again have to perform a balancing act with their decisions. Walking the tightrope between upsetting your citizens and pleasing New London is not an easy feat. You’ll more than likely end up failing on your first playthrough of On The Edge.
On The Edge’s story objectives aren’t as intense as the main campaign's...
On The Edge’s learning curve is quite high but if you’ve played the base game or the subsequent DLCs, you should be able to do quite well.
