Five New Warhammer Games Announced – First Space Marine is Also Getting Remastered
It’s a pretty good day to be a Warhammer fan as five new games were recently announced at once along with a long-awaited remaster of the first Space Marine game. This year’s Warhammer Skulls event hosted a number of exciting reveals, along with news of an endless horde mode being added to Space Marine 2 later next month.
First and foremost, the original Space Marine game is getting the remaster treatment with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Master Crafted Edition, an enhanced version of the first game with 4K resolution, modernised controls, improved character models, remastered audio and an interface overhaul. It will be out on 10 June for Xbox Series X/S and PC as well as day one on Xbox Game Pass. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of a PS5 version.
Space Marine 2 is also getting an update on 26 June that will add an endless horde mode to the game called Siege Mode. The update will be free for players across all platforms. Back in March, Saber Interactive also confirmed that it was working on a third Space Marine game.
As for the other announcements, the 2023 first-person shooter Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is officially getting a sequel. Players will once again play as Malum Caedo and fight “a new crop of daemonic foes including the bloodthirsty legions of Khorne.” Games Workshop says the sequel “follows on directly from the end of Boltgun with a branching, non-linear single player campaign.” It’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC but no release date was announced.
The next big announcement was Dark Heresy, a sequel to Owlcat Games’ 2023 RPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. It’s described as a “grim dark, party-based, story-driven cRPG” with tactical combat. Not much else was shared about the game other than it will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Meanwhile, Boltgun fans will also get a strange typing action game called Boltgun – Words of Vengeance that’s available right now on Steam (free of charge). In the game, Malum Caedo spells out words and phrases from Warhammer lore as you battle through levels from the original game.
A free-to-play mobile strategy game titled Supremacy: Warhammer 40,000 was also revealed, designed to “challenge both veterans and newcomers alike, players will need to navigate the perilous 41st Millennium as one of four factions at odds for control of the planet Vigilus.” It’s coming to iOS and Android at an unknown date.
Finally, the classic RTS Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is also getting a new Definitive Edition, bundling all of its expansions together in an enhanced package featuring “upgraded visuals, HUD, camera, and more.”
