Let me start off by saying a huge thank you to the folks who came to the last JHB Fighting Game Community event of the year. It was awesome to see the new and old faces. Despite it being a slightly more snug venue, due to Nintendo day, the Xbox get together and the PUBG players, we still managed to get through the qualifiers of Marvel Vs Capcom, a mini Tekken tournament and a whole lot more.
I cannot express enough thanks to Scott, who was kind enough to supply prizes for the FGC’s going into the New Year, so big props to him! Hopefully, this is a call for everyone to get practicing! At this point in time, we will be focusing on Tekken and Marvel Vs Capcom but things may change especially with Dragon Ball FighterZ coming out early February 2018.
As a side note, we streamed most of the event on Saturday via twitch and will be loading the footage to YouTube in the coming week. Please bear in mind that this was a somewhat haphazard stream and a learning curve for the guys involved, but despite that, many guys were keen to throw their voice into the microphone and had a metric ton of fun. The quality in the future will only improve as we do these events more often.
If you follow this link and go to the videos tab you will find all the footage that we recorded, and a comment will be posted with a link to the YouTube Page so guys have the option between the two. If the game audio dies for a bit please forgive us as we didn’t realise that when a new controller is plugged in, the audio defaults change so we learned quite a bit from this event! The YouTube channel in question is MantisShrimpKin, if you want to search for it, otherwise links will be provided in the comments later.
If you’re ever around the store and just want to chat fighting games or streaming setups please don’t be shy to pop in and ask. Questions on twitter are normally answered quite promptly whether it’s my personal one or the Nexus Twitter account.
We are extremely excited about events going forward, and we hope to see new faces as the gaming community in South Africa grows. We are extremely proud to be a part of a fledgling idea that will grow into something much much bigger.
It's only later that I realised why I love anime and games. It's just how many ways one can express an idea.
