Fallout TV Series Reveals First Look and New Story Details
Vanity Fair has revealed the first look at the upcoming Fallout TV series produced by Jonathan Nolan as well as some new story details. The report features a handful of new images from the show, revealing the Brotherhood of Steel, Walter Goggins as The Ghoul and the protagonist named Lucy (played by Ella Purnell).
According to the Vanity Fair report, the Fallout TV series is considered canon and made to stand alongside the video games. The story will follow apocalyptic events of the year 2077 in which nuclear bombs ravage the world. Selected people are sent to vaults deep underground while the world above burns and becomes plagued by radiation. 219 years later, Lucy decides to venture off into the wastelands after a tragic event unfolds, forcing her to confront the radioactive dangers of Los Angeles.
Jonathan Nolan, who directed the first three episodes, spoke about Lucy’s role in the show:
“Lucy is charming and plucky and strong… and then you see she’s confronted with the reality of, hey, maybe the supposedly virtuous things you grew up with are not necessarily that virtuous. If they are virtuous, they’re couched in a circumstantial virtuousness. It’s a luxury virtue. You have your point of view because you never ran out of food, right? You guys were able to share everything—because you had enough to share.”
Speaking on remaining faithful to the tone, style, twisted humour and violence of the games, Bethesda’s Todd Howard said, “We had a lot of conversations over the style of humor, the level of violence, the style of violence. Look, Fallout can be very dramatic, and dark, and postapocalyptic, but you need to weave in a little bit of a wink…. I think they threaded that needle really well on the TV show.”
