Mediatonic is shifting Fall Guys into a new free-to-play model starting on 21 June. The developer also plans on rolling out the popular online game to more platforms including Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. There’s also a new enhanced PS5 version of Fall Guys coming your way that will take advantage of the DualSense controller and PS5 GPU.
If you plan on jumping into Fall Guys when it goes free next month, you can also look forward to some new obstacles and features. One of which is called Blast Balls. Here, players pick up balls and carry them around the arena. When the ball explodes, it knocks players away with a chance of them falling off the outer rim of the platform.

There’s also a new round called Hex-a-Ring. Mediatonic says it is the same as Hex-a-Gone but players on a rotating cube. Players will need to keep moving through the layers of tiles while not falling off the rotating floor or slipping down the slime hills.
When it comes to the PS5 version, players can upgrade their PS4 copy to the enhanced version for free or simply download it on 21 June from the store. The PS5 version of Fall Guys runs at 4K 60FPS. The game will also utilize the DualSense controller by using its haptic feedback. However, Mediatonic says that will arrive in a future update somewhere down the line.
Players will also be able to jump right into a Fall Guys match on PS5 right from the console home screen thanks to Direct Access. You can simply click on one of the cards and the game will load instantly into matchmaking.
Mediatonic says there are loads of new modes and collaborations headed to Fall Guys in the future so look out for exciting costumes and rounds to play. It is unclear yet how Mediatonic plans on handling the new free-to-play Fall Guys progression system. If anything, the original game should have been free in the first place. It contained loads of in-game purchases, passes and cosmetics.
