Last year, developer id Software released the anticipated sequel to the 2016 DOOM reboot, titled DOOM Eternal. As a continuation of Doom Slayer's story (and inevitable new conclusions), it flew above and beyond expectations and delivered what is, in my humble opinion, one of the best first-person shooters in gaming. Thanks to the recent Xbox acquisition of id Software, though, DOOM will now shift its tides to Xbox console exclusivity, with Xbox Series X/S getting a new upgrade.

The latest trailer for DOOM Eternal's Xbox Series X/S upgrades shows off the updated visuals, tweaked and enhanced performance, and plenty of blood. Of course, it wouldn't be a new generation game without ray tracing, and DOOM Eternal of course has it as an optional mode. You can also choose Performance Mode which gives you a great and smooth 120FPS, and finally there's Balanced Mode, if you want to experience the game at 4K 60FPS. Furthermore, this upgrade is free to those who already own an Xbox One version of the game, or if you managed to swipe it from Xbox Game Pass.
