For the last few months, speculation and rumours surfaced of a Chrono Cross remaster or remake potentially happening. While it skipped out on a reveal at The Game Awards, there’s still hope that it might be revealed soon. According to the original game’s composer, their next project will be announced next month, and it might make an appearance at the rumoured PlayStation State of Play event.
Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer behind games like Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger and several other Square Enix titles, will reveal their new project next month. This lines up with previous rumours that PlayStation were planning a “big” State of Play event sometime in February, which could be where this new project is unveiled.

Of course, since rumours were hot about a Chrono Cross remake last year, a lot of fans speculate that this could be Mitsuda’s new project. Specifically, Mitsuda mentions that they will announce the “first one” next month, meaning there’s more projects that he’s currently working on. His full quote on social media reads:
“Thank you so much for your birthday messages. I’m sorry I couldn’t reply to each person.
This thank you will be returned to you in the work At the earliest (if you are lucky), we will announce the first one next month, so please look forward to it!!”
