November 27, 2018 is coming. Mark your calendar because that's when Darksiders III finally releases. Cancel your plans, put away your six shooters (ed - or forget to equip them from your horse), and maybe take a lie down in a Vault (ed - or just get dumped from the server), because you'll want to get your Fury on and make those demonic nightmares quake in their britches.
Finally, after hoping and praying that someone would pick up the Darksiders license after THQ folded, we're actually going to get our hands on the third game in the series thanks to THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games. Gunfire Games is staffed by veteran developers of the first two Darksiders games (which came from Vigil Games), before that developer sadly became defunct. This gives me great hope that Darksiders III will live up to my lofty expectations.
This time, players are placed in the spiky boots of Fury, the third Horse(wo)man of The Apocalypse. Her story runs parallel to War's and tasks her with hunting down the Seven Deadly Sins who escaped during the premature Apocalypse. Unlike Death, who was out to prove War's innocence, Fury doesn't seem too concerned with War's predicament - at least if the trailers are anything to go by.
Hopefully, Darksiders III will hit the right mark with gamers and pave the way for Darksiders IV and maybe even Darksiders V if they want a big finale. Judging by the context of each game's narrative, it seems the devs are keen on introducing us to each of the Horsemen in their own adventure, running parallel storylines, before bringing it full circle to the ending of Darksiders, thus making Darksiders V potentially the one in which we will see the Horsemen united and ready to put the smack down on whatever monstrous machinations are clearly going on behind the scenes.
