After over a year of back and forth, Activision and Treyarch have finally unveiled the next installment in the annual Call of Duty franchise, and as many already might've guessed, it's the return of the Black Ops series. The official title for the game will be Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, previously revealed by Eurogamer. The game will be set in the historical era of the Cold War, and according to the teaser trailer, will be based on seemingly real-life events.

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will be developed by Treyarch, the developers behind the critically acclaimed Black Ops series and World at War. Reportedly, the game went through a bit of shuffling in development. Sledgehammer Games, the developers behind Advanced Warfare and WWII, originally began development of the project with Raven as a Cold War-based Call of Duty title before development hit some issues, and Activision handed development duties over to Treyarch (who were, at the time, hot off Black Ops 4). You can read the full report and its troubles from here, though it looks like things may have come together for the studio.
