Bluepoint Games, the PlayStation first-party studio behind 2018’s Shadow of the Colossus and 2020’s Demon’s Souls remakes, are currently hiring for a new third-person action game. This follows its live-service God of War game which the studio was reportedly developing before it got cancelled.
As reported by Tech4Gamers, Bluepoint Games is currently in the process of hiring for a new unannounced third-person action game. There’s no indication if this is a new IP or another remake, since “third-person action game” could encompass a lot of potential titles. It also makes no mention of it being a single-player or another live-service game, though we reckon it’s the former.
It’s also possible that this job listing could be related to Santa Monica Studio’s rumoured new God of War, as Bluepoint also assisted in the development of God of War: Ragnarok and might be doing the same for the next entry. Previous reports suggest that the next chapter in Kratos’ journey will take him to Egypt – a location that he had already canonically visited thanks to the prequel comic books.
On a more hopeful speculative note, Bluepoint Games already has experience working with From Software titles so some fans hope that the studio is now working on something related to Bloodborne, potentially a very long-requested remake. If this is true, then development would still be in its early stages and we won’t hear about the project for at least another couple of years. If not, then I guess it’s time to buy more clown make-up.
A report from Bloomberg earlier this year revealed that Bluepoint was once working on a live-service God of War game that ultimately ended up being scrapped (alongside another live-service game in the works at Days Gone developer Sony Bend). This was likely part of PlayStation’s ongoing push into live-service territory – something that hasn’t been going the company’s way since the release of the ill-fated Concord.
