Battlefield 6 has reportedly achieved Call of Duty-level sales in its first few days, apparently going on to sell a whopping 6.5 million copies since its launch on 10 October. After some very positive early reviews, Battlefield 6 was being championed as a return to form for the long-running first-person shooter franchise. DICE’s hard work seems to have paid off in droves as the initial sales are looking particularly strong.
Rhys Elliott from Alinea Analytics recently revealed that Battlefield 6 reached 6.5 million copies sold in its first few days of launch, putting its sales momentum on-par with a new Call of Duty game. That works out to around $350 million in gross revenue. “It’s closer to Call of Duty-tier numbers than any of EA’s premium-shooter efforts so far. But the question now is whether or not EA can foster this successful launch into a platform that stands the test of time,” said Elliott.
The report breaks down the individual platforms where Battlefield 6 sold well. PC Steam sales proved to be the largest platform, drawing in 65.7% of sales, equating to 3.5 million copies sold and more than $220 million in revenue. Following behind it is PS5, which made up 23.7% of total sales or around 1.5 million copies sold. Finally, Xbox Series X/S was the least fruitful platform, making up 19.6% of sales and 1.2 million units sold.
Steam’s popularity doesn’t come as a surprise, given how well the game has been optimised for PC. Battlefield 6 recently reached a staggering 747,000 concurrent player count at its peak – that’s more players than any other EA game, even surpassing Apex Legends (which had a concurrent high of 624,000 players). It’s worth keeping in mind that EA and DICE have yet to reveal official sales figures, but hopefully we’ll hear about them soon.
DICE is showing no signs of slowing down on its post-launch support. Season 1 is set to launch on 28 October which could also bring its long-rumoured battle royale mode. Thereafter, new major and minor updates will roll out for the rest of the year. You can read the details on the full roadmap right here.
Battlefield 6 is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
