During Ubisoft Forward at E3 2021, the company unveiled that they were working on a new Avatar game for current-gen hardware, titled Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The game was revealed in a pretty dazzling trailer highlighting the power behind the newly upgraded engine, Snowdrop, which is being used to develop the game. Ubisoft went into a bit more detail about how they're building this Avatar game, and how Snowdrop is being pushed to its limits to achieve extraordinary amounts of detail.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is based on the 2009 James Cameron movie, Avatar, which remains the highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office. Ubisoft bought the rights to develop games based on the film around its release, and have held onto it for over a decade. With the announcement of many Avatar sequels currently in the works by Cameron, Ubisoft is seizing the opportunity to deliver a new Avatar game and it's one that looks absolutely breathtaking in its scope and scale of Pandora. The latest tech showcase video details the upgraded Snowdrop engine, and some of the visual feats Ubisoft were able to achieve.
