Assassin's Creed Odyssey was an absolute phenomenon, superseding everyone's expectations for the title. To find out why this is an absolute must-play for 2018, you can read our editorial review here.
We attended rAge 2018 this year, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey writer, Daniel Bingham, just happened to be there as well, and we just happened to get him to sit on a couch with us to discuss a little behind-the-scenes action when it came to writing the script for the game.
Talking to Daniel made me realise just how much work, research, and passion goes into writing for a game such as Odyssey. The excitement that radiated from Bingham is evidence of his personal love for the industry and for Greek mythology.
Bingham also showcased how continuous hard work and the ol' cliche about never giving up on your dreams pays off, especially when he spoke about how 'he had been preparing for it his entire life'. We also got great insight into all that goes into writing a game's script, especially for a game so vast and intertwined as Odyssey.
Bingham spoke about the difficulty he had in writing for both Kassandra and Alexios, as they are quite different characters, as well as the way the world will interact with each of them. Furthermore, we hear him talk about how much research had gone into writing characters for Pericles, Herodotus, and Socrates, as these characters were referenced more in other works than their own; especially Sokrates, as most of his personality has been taken from the works of Plato.
