With 2025 coming to a close, we now set our sights on what the future of the gaming world could bring to us. This year, indie games dominated conversations with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 coming out with a victorious Game of the Year win. However, there are also several talented AAA teams currently cooking up potential future classics like Larian Studios, CD Projekt Red and more. So without further ado, here are our 10 most anticipated upcoming games releasing in 2026 and beyond.
First up, a handful of honourable mentions before we get into our top 10:
Code Vein 2
Nioh 3
007 First Light
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
Super Meat Boy 3D
The Duskbloods
Fable
Halo: Campaign Evolved
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
Next Mass Effect
Exodus
Crimson Desert
Replaced
Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss
10. Saros
PlayStation’s Housemarque impressed us all with 2021’s Returnal so of course we’re excited for the studio’s next game, Saros. Starring the supremely underrated Rahul Kohli, Saros promises another bullet-hell action experience with fantastic visuals and tight gameplay. We’re probably going to die a lot, but we can’t wait to go back again (and again) for more.
Saros launches on 30 April 2026 exclusively for PS5.
9. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
Arc System Works is one of the finest maestro fighting game developers in the industry (known for the Guilty Gear series and Dragon Ball FighterZ), so pairing the studio with the Marvel IP is an instant recipe for success. Considering the boom of Marvel’s appeal in the gaming sphere lately thanks to Marvel Rivals, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has a fighting chance (no pun intended) of truly standing out.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launches in 2026 for PS5 and PC.
8. Resident Evil Requiem
The ninth main instalment in Capcom’s long-running survival horror franchise, Resident Evil Requiem has all the makings of another intense hit. Following up the phenomenal Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village, Requiem is switching it up with a blend of action and horror thanks to playable protagonists Grace Ashcroft and Leon Kennedy. We think Capcom is saving the best surprises for the game, so we’re keeping a cautious eye on this one.
Resident Evil Requiem launches on 27 February 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
7. Marvel’s Wolverine
Insomniac Games tackles Marvel yet again. This time, they’re switching from a web slinger to adamantium claws with Marvel’s Wolverine. Judging by the gameplay, Insomniac isn’t holding back on the gruesome violence which is a very good sign of things to come, and a great way to detach it from Spider-Man.
Marvel's Wolverine releases in 2026 exclusively for PS5.
6. Forza Horizon 6
We’re pretty simple. We see a new Forza Horizon game, we get excited. Developer Playground Games have never missed when it comes to their arcade spin-offs of the Forza racing games. The excitement is riding very high this time because Forza Horizon 6 is – after many, many years of demands – finally jetting off to Japan. The potential is there to explore some truly breathtaking scenic vistas and car culture in the East.
Forza Horizon 6 releases in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
5. Phantom Blade Zero
We’ve been blessed with a lot of great third-person action games this generation, but there’s something special about S-GAME’s Phantom Blade Zero that has us hooked: the combat. Dizzyingly great dark fantasy visuals aside, the game’s combat is some of the most stylish we’ve ever seen in the action genre – a deft blend of Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry and Black Myth: Wukong, but somehow flashier and more skilfully choreographed. If that doesn’t catch your attention, what will?
Phantom Blade Zero launches on 9 September 2026 for PS5 and PC.
4. Reanimal
Little Nightmares developer Tarsier Studios is pulling out all the stops for its next co-op horror project, Reanimal. They aren’t holding back on the horror elements either, now fully leaning into them with some of the most haunting, disturbing visuals and concepts we’ve seen. By comparison, it makes Little Nightmares seem like a cozy light-hearted adventure and that’s saying something.
Reanimal launches on 13 February 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
3. Grand Theft Auto 6
What more can we say? Moving on…
Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
2. The Witcher 4
The long-awaited continuation of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red is busy cooking up a storm with The Witcher 4. Ciri has now stepped up to the plate as the new protagonist of the series going forward, replacing Geralt of Rivia. The Unreal Engine 5 tech demo was an incredible demonstration of its potential. Let’s just hope all the right lessons were learned from Cyberpunk 2077’s launch because The Witcher 4 deserves to arrive with a bang.
The Witcher 4 is currently in development.
1. Divinity
It just got announced, but we’ve never seen a game climb so fast up the excitement ladder like Divinity. Coming from Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios, Divinity seems to be a kind of reboot of the franchise, best known for the Original Sin games. Baldur’s Gate 3 ranks among the best games of the decade so far, so all eyes are on Larian’s next big project for good reason. Also, that announcement trailer. Holy ****.
Divinity is currently in development.
Bonus: The Elder Scrolls 6
We have no idea when The Elder Scrolls 6 is coming out (or if it will even release within this decade at this rate), but it remains very high up on most players' anticipated games list. Apart from some mountains in the seven-year old teaser trailer, we still know absolutely nothing about it. After Starfield was a bit of a misfire, all we can hope for is The Elder Scrolls 6 to go back to the drawing board and deliver a new entry worthy of the franchise... that we'll be playing for the rest of our lives, to be honest.
