Re Stage 4 laodshedding - we have now become the laughing stock of colleagues in other African countries. No leadership whatsoever in this crisis. I think teh Ukraine Govt has kept electricity supplies and other essential services on whilst their country in being bombed/invaded.

@tea - yeah. I went shopping today and I see PNP/Checkers staff are not wearing masks but Woolies are. 75% of people are not wearing masks but I wore one. TBH I might keep on wearing one in shops my sinus issues went way in the last two years. Otherwise no pro or anti mask BS was present so all good. Perhaps the future lies in what Asia Pacific countries do: they expect you to wear to a mask if you have a cold in crowds.

@Scottie - yeah, we have made it optional for our staff as well, let people choose for themselves. I hope people don't ostracize the people who choose to continue to wear it or not.

Right now let people do what's comfortable for them

I hate people who tell you it's God's plan, or The Lord works in mysterious ways.

I have one thing to say to them, FREE WILL, the biggest gift given to human kind. Free will means that you do not have a destiny, or any path laid out for you to follow, but that you and only you are the only master of your future.

The moment you believe in Destiny, you are no longer the master of your own fate and your decision does not matter as your future has been pre-determined.

Anyways, that is my two cents worth. Feels good to actually get that off my chest, been dying to say that.

anyway ... big sports cars like Aston, Ferrari etc only do 5000km or less a year so IMO they are OK even if most of their owners are tools like the doctor dude I see every so often in Gallardo convertible - car has more noise than go ...

This is so true. I think a lot of people use this as an excuse to be apathetic about being responsible for their own lives. I saw something about a child that was killed and some asshat commented saying how dare we be upset about it when this is what god wanted and we can never question god. Urgh, does my head in.

That is sick. But you knows those are the kind of people that have been conditioned to never think for themselves and sadly someone set them up to be like that. Perhaps it was their parents, other family members, school teachers or religious leaders, but someone taught them to just accept things the way they are. And you can bet they will teach others in the same way.

^^ Sorry, didn't mean to intrude in the topic of religion but;

I have a friend who is heavy religious and is one of those types who has taken it to the extreme and carries that oath if you will with him entirely.
Awhile back, when I wasn’t doing so great I went over to visit the guy and on his coffee table I found a pamphlet on what God really means.

It was a story that explain “Life is like a river, a river you have to cross and at some point in your crossing you’ll get stuck, you’ll be pushed astray and would need help to find your feet again and to move forward and finally cross that river.
God is the person, that faith.. that whatever you’ll need to help you when you get stuck crossing this river they call life."

One question completely stumped him and in order to avoid an awkward visit I just changed the subject.
My question was: When did any one person choose to be born in this river?

Just food for thought.

How bad those packets of mini chomps are, can't seem to stop eating them until they are all gone and I feel sick. Still looking back I have no regrets.

Yup, no one chooses to be born. But I think what we do while we're here is what makes the time matter. Ie. Kindness to others, learning and evolving.

Which brings us to another topic which is quite heavy. Why is it wrong to choose when/how we die? Like that young woman who chose to end her life when told she had irreparable brain cancer. She wanted to go before life became unbearable and the Catholic church has claimed she has gone to hell for it.

Exactly you euthanize an old pet so it doesn't have to suffer but people are expected to suffer terribly ...

I agree with you Snow. Does God really despise us so much that if we decide to take our own lives instead of living in unbearable physical pain, making life a misery, we go to hell. I mean really, really!!!

It really becomes a grey area, that until you are in that situation i honestly cannot expect anybody can say what they will or wont do. But condemning somebody to hell for choosing not to suffer on earth. You cannot tell me that we have such a spiteful God.

Yes exactly. I'm not gonna go into the god aspect of it since I am not religious. But those who are religious, I'm sure they do not wish to believe that their god would be so hateful.

In fact, if heaven is the end goal in life, surely those who are suffering on earth should be applauded for wanting to get there faster?

I dunno... baffles me
