Yup, it's an easy cheap way to get people to buy stuff they think will be valuable when in reality this stuff can easily be forged and very few collectors actually want them. I know people who bought them before they knew much about it and now regret the purchase because a raw copy is now more desired and valuable since the signature will be treated as a defect..
Not saying that books people have like this aren't real, I'm sure they are authentic but to a qualified grading company like CGC they can't take a chance like that because of how easy it would be to fake it.
I should add that CGC representatives will be at Comic Con this year so if you have some Donny Cates books, who has been writing some great stuff for Venom and Carnage with some $100+ raw books then it will be a good oppurtunity to get a Signature Series CGC slab, it's cost R950 for an SS slab which is nothing when you think about shipping costs and all that.
The certificate was issues by Marvel, I bought the comic form Marvel Direct.
Then another question…my son has got a Captain America Shield that was used on set of Winter Soldier, the bridge scene.
We got the shield from a buddy of mine that worked on the movie (he was part of the special effects team). The shield is made from fibre glass and only the outside (the star log) has been painted to look like the shield. The inside is just rough white fibre glass and two nylon straps.
The shield does have a date and scene number written on the inside.
I don’t really expect this shield to have real value, more sentimental value and bragging rights for my son, however, how can I establish the value of this shield.
Doesn't matter where the certificate comes from or where you bought it from, CGC will not authenticate the signature and will grade your book like any other book seeing the signature as a defect. If you grade it they will send you back the certificate seperately in a normal comic holder with back board with either the green label or blue universal label slab.
Vampirella #3 Campbell cover, comes out next week, not the best cover but seems to be all we can get locally
Then I paid for this to be sent to CGC, currently only 11 graded copies of this so I'll likely be number 12 and will be nice to have a CGC Turner cover, 4-5 month wait though so will only get this back next year.
Ironic…I was just reading a WhatsApp messages that seems to be doing the rounds…since the SABC will not be broadcasting any of the Rugby World Cup matches on TV and radio and only DSTV premier subscribers will be able to view the matches, people is now calling for a boycott of the World Cup….
Like I care…I don’t even know who is playing for South Africa…
The only reason I have a TV license, is so I can buy a new TV if I need to.
Otherwise I wouldn't bother. The only thing I watch on SABC is Survivor, Amazing Race, Bleach & the very rare good movie.
99% of what they show is a bunch of crap! They lost most of their good shows to ETV & DSTV.
& like Bod said, they can't even show the Rugby world cup. They didn't even finish showing the cricket world cup this year. They even lost the rights to the local soccer for a while lol
@Teb I bought 2 TVs, since this nonsense with the TV licence started.
No licence no sale, straight forward. Both times, different stores.
Plus I'M the go to guy when somebody I know whats to get a TV. Cause I'm the only one with a license
Pre-ordered and paid for this beauty, Artgerm X-men #1 variant, only out in about a month but the variant being half-price on pre-orders made it a no brainer to pick up. Also picked up Spawn #301 Campbell virgin, when a virgin cover is the same price as a normal cover you buy the virgin
