After completing Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone, I really needed a different type genre. So i'm onto South Park: Fractured But Whole....
So being a super hero sidekick to Captain Diabetes, going to a "Dance" club, chasing after Classi with a strange Tattoo, Running away from Bootye.... Now this is what I call mindless fun! My Wife watches to see the story as The Coon is interesting... Backstories and all! Love it!
Only played about 7 to 8 hoursso far can't wait for more
The adaption of the controls to PS4 is amazing, everything can be accessed easily even though Civ 6 is such a complex game.
It takes a bit of adjusting to the controls though especially when you are trying to concentrate on 10 things at once (I accidentally skipped my turns about 3 times I guess ) but otherwise no problems.
I can't help but feel bad that it's taken me a year to play this. It's another excellent game from a mid-tier developer and publisher, buried under a flood of well-marketed but often blandly formulaic AAA games.
It's strongly narrative-driven and linear, playing out like a Naughty Dog game going from set piece to set piece, and like those games, the combination of a great writing, voice-acting, simple but satsifying stealth puzzles, and unexpectedly gruesome horror elements is captivating. Only 4 chapters in so far but I would have added it to my GOTY 2019 list if I had played it sooner.
Call of Juarez: The Cartel (back-compat on the X1)
As a fan of Techland's Dead Island and Dying Light (janky as they may be at times), I wanted to finally try this series out. Only ones that seem to work in our marketplace were The Cartel and Gunslinger, so I figured I would try the worse-rated one first - how bad could it be for R37?
So far, pretty awful. Guns always felt rubbish to aim and fire in Dead Island, and this game feels exactly the same in a game entirely about shooting. Seems like there was the potential with the setting but the gunplay + awful, awful characters and writing don't help.
Warframe on PS4.
I started to play Warframe about a year ago on Pc and now i picked it back up on PS4. Only problem is I have to start from the beginning and I'm aiming to get back into the game and lore. (migration from PC is/was closed)
Been playing solo until I get to Level 3 with mark of Mastery and my Excalibur, MK1 and Skana back to level 30. Then I want to get into the madness of getting online play going. Only bad part is I had all 3 parts and BP for Rhino but alas... PS+ gave me 200 Platinum for free... that's a nice starts!
It's been a ton of fun to go back to this. The remastered visuals are in line with the StarCraft 1 remaster - not mind-blowing by any means but close to how you "remember" them (and you can toggle them on the fly if you want to be reminded how bad they looked). Remastered audio and music, on the other hand, still rocks, and no other RTS franchise has done it better since.
All that said, this is more like an accessible collection for historical interest. and actual gameplay changes are minimal. There's stuff like improved group select, jumping to your selection, building queues, and - I think - quicker reaction to enemy units. The new mission interface is great though, as is the jukebox function that allows you to customize your playlist in-game.
All that said, there's no attack-move, path-finding remains awful, and missions that you have to complete with only a handful of units are as RNG-driven and rubbish as ever. A lot has changed in two decades so while there are still some standout missions, most of the seek-and-destroy type missions feel slow.
Was playing Mafia 3, but F%&^%& dropping it Like a F%$$^ N%%&^( potato and F^$%#$*^%ing trying to F&^%(&%^ing get all the F%&*)^%^^ S&*^ Language out of my N&^%&^%ger F*&^%(&%^ing head. Just wow. The lack of fast-travel also made the game a chore
Now I started Days Gone. First impressions are very favorable. Graphics are good and world seems fun. A bit annoyed by the respawning enemies at the moment. Shows good promise though.
I'll take a poke at Persona 5 the moment this stupid update is done....
Yeah when the game came out I was not impressed with opinions. Which is why I waited for the price drop. Now I am pleasantly surprised. It felt a lot like Last of us, but I can now see it's not quite as polished. For R300 it's well worth it though
Had a poke around Persona 5 Royal.
PSA if you buy the game, the DLC from Persona 5 is FREE. Just go to the playstore and select the legacy pack. Glad I spotted this on another website!
Anyway, the game is still awesome and it shows the added Royal stuff right from the start.
Days gone is fun, but I really wish you could change Deacon's look. The whole backward cap, scruffy beard look makes me want to punch him
Game also has a nasty habit of respawning you in the center of a camp, with all enemies newly respawned as well. Stupid mechanic
Ever since wrapping up the first Crystal Dynamics trilogy, I've been psyched to replay their second. Skipped the first game as I've played it one too many times, and it's less consequential to the Trinity plot anyway.
I still really enjoy these games and, in many ways, rate them higher than Naughty Dog's Uncharted games when it comes to 3rd-person adventures in mythical places. Sure, they don't have the incredible writing and animation of those games but the minute-to-minute gameplay is more entertaining and diverse. That said, these games are way too dese with collectibles. Even focussing on the main story, the few side missions, and optional tombs/crypts, it's hard to go far without stumbling across documents, supply caches, ancient coins etc.
This is becoming a drag. Game plays well enough with some great moments, but the protagonist, Deacon is one of the most annoying characters I have ever played. He is just a straight up A-Hole, with no redeeming qualities. This is compounded by the fact that pretty much EVERYBODY in this game sucks. Finding it very hard to connect with this world and finish the side quests. I really want to know more about a few aspects, but slogging through this is becoming painful
Saints Row Gat Out of Hell
Getting into it with a friend on ps4. Co op is fun and best part is, we are collecting all the orbs together! saves so much time!
Also, pulled the plug and went into Destiny 2 "Shadowkeep" i think... Free to play but i might just need to get the Forsaken DLC.
Going into D2 to play some online games with a friend. We are going to go into the play of the Stories (legacy campaigns) and the rest. But wow, this is a fun game. Think I might be going into this more now then what i've been into with Warframe
When I reviewed this, I scored it less than RotTR as I found it too familiar. Objectively true but, replaying it 2 years - straight after RotTR - I prefer it. The endless trips through the Shantytown and other man-made locations in the 2013's Tomb Raider, and anything around the Soviet Installation in RotTR, were always the weakest parts of the experience for me. SotTR reminded me how much I enjoyed feeling completely lost somewhere, surrounded only by the ruins of a prior civilization. Going to also tackle all the DLC tombs this time to see how they compare to the base game.
I'm enjoying it so far, and it's my first AC game since that Civil War one, which was 3, I think? Crazy to see how far the series has come in terms of the gameplay and open world experience. While the characters are endearing, Odyssey's story isn't doing much for me as it's kind of the same old son seeks father's approval thing, but I'm sticking around mainly to explore the incredibly picturesque setting.
@Tebulot - I so regret not choosing Cassandra. Ah well. I've reached the third island so it's too late to start over. You're right though, there is tons to do but I love just jumping in for an hour or so a day to do do side stuff and learn more about ancient Greece!
man this game is long!!! takes ages before the story even kicks in, side quests are amazing, so hang in there, its a great game, story is okay, origins story was much better. but still lots and lots of fun.
The Last of Us Part 2
Beautiful looking game, with stunning lighting effects!
Great voice acting as well!
Game plays exactly the same as the first one, which is not a bad thing. Don't fix what isn't broken I guess.
Still early on in the game, & its taken quite a turn. I really hope theres a big pay off down the line....
