Happy December Everyone, time for the festive break to start, anyone looking to watch the game awards next week?

Warning: Joburg residents must reduce water usage or else...

We are no longer appealing or encouraging you to save water. If you do not save water, you will be without water #Savewater, choose

So my water siphon thing didn't work too well as the water I am drawing from is at too low a level. Moved to natural bath products and been using a bucket to get the bath water out for the plants and toilet. The standard method - going too complicated didn't work at all even if it would have gotten all the water out if it did work . Got a new shower curtain so no more baths anymore at all. Gonna catch the water in a bucket under the shower to reuse.

well done Corrosive . we have been doing this for a few years now at the coast and even not during water restrictions .. once you get used to it and do it for a while you realize how many kiloletres you save ( or can waste ! )

good on you

Thanks Dude. It's amazing to see just how much water the toilet uses now that I am using the grey water only. I think Vice mentioned it here in the thread. It really is the easiest way to conserve water and anyone can do it!

So I got home now this afternoon and there is no water

Minister Mokonyane says her department will reduce water supply to municipalities by 15% and it’s up to individual municipalities to determine how they’ll get consumers to comply.

Yeah, rumours are that the Roodepoort areas won't have water from next week as well.

I got these cheep 20L buckets last weekend from Makro. Only R30 each and they come with a lid. After the storm last night I caught enough to fill one up, so I have the water for the next watering of my plants sorted !yes

We use shower water for plants, getting a quote for a JoJo with filters for grey water harvesting and another to catch rain water.

Even with all the rain its not over yet everyone. We must still use water wisely.

National water restrictions now in place

The EWN 702 soundcloud clip is worth a listen. Basically the catchment areas received rain, but this hasn't affected the dams as much as they wanted. The heat has also meant demand is high and that a lot of the water evaporates

Listen water dept implements countrywide water restrictions

Vaal river system is over 60%, but GP still on level 2 water restrictions.

and then there is this...
CT only has around 135 days of usable water left
