I am playing it, the board game ...Got two teams the “Purple Pansy Phumbers” (an Orc team) and the Losers, a human team…
I have been playing the game since the 1990 when Mark Anderson had his shop close to Eastgate and the only other place that stock the stuff was Outer Limits, still in Braamfontein. And we had no online shopping.
We modded all kinds of Games Workshop models to make teams as only the starter set was available in the country. Same went for Gorko Morka, an Orchish racing car game set in the Warhammer 40 000 universe and Hero Quest, a role playing game set in the Games Workshop fantasy universe.
The entire second edition game is a huge improvement from the original version. The set include two basic teams, Orcs and Humans, all the dice you will need and all the rulers and measuring tools you need to play the game with. You also get a double side pitch and double sided “Dug outs”
The game can be played without painting the figures, the orcs is red and humans is blue, you still need to assemble the models.
The new rules is very similar to the previous version, and once you understand the game mechanics the game is very flowing.
As people who know Games Workshop products know, not everything is in the starter set…if you want to play any other team in the GW Universe, you need to get the expansion – Dead Zone. This includes rules for tournaments, campaigns, Star Players and the other team rosters. And then you still need to buy the team you want…only two other teams is available, The Skaven – people like rats and Dwarves.
