For those of you that haven't played Cronos: The New Dawn, Nexus has it in stock again (and no I'm not shilling). It's a fantastic game and one of the best horror games I've played in a long time. Story is also amazing and gameplay is super fun as well. It's one of the best horror experiences I've had in a long time.

Hey guys,

With COVID-19 affecting all aspects of life now. How are you and your family prepping for the worst case scenario or do you feel it isnt "there" yet?

I am mentally preparing myself to stay at home an play games for 2 weeks. Requires focus.
No other prepping, just keeping an eye on the news...
We will be fine, unless someone does something monumentally stupid, which, considering past evidence, is not entirely unlikely

P.S I see we are on 13 cases

Not prepping at all. I have always been a stickler for hygiene so nothing changes there. If we are told to stay at home, then cross that bridge when I get to it. Apart from work we tend to stay home anyway so home is always well-stocked

This one hits home so hard. People are nasty.

My biggest concern would be that the "first world" countries squash the virus, and then it starts running amok in Third world countries due to lack of facilities / planning.

Personally not doing much more than buying maybe an extra bit of meat or canned good so I can freeze/store. Not spending thousands on stuff just a little extra like 3 cans of tinned tomato instead of 2. Other than that just carrying on as normal

Don't have many obvious risks factors at the moment so not too worried. Also helps that unlike the Spanish flu (H1N1) - a comparison I see brought up repeatedly - being younger and having a functioning immune system is likely to see you survive just fine, rather than die of a massive inflammatory response. We'll have to wait and see but it seems once we've got accurate reporting of both infections (asymptomatic or otherwise) and total deaths, this'll not end up much more deadly than any other yearly flu variant.

South Africa and other developing regions may have issues with a large percentage of immune-compromised people due to HIV or malnourishment, but again, I reckon we should be more worried about our already well-established MDR or XDR TB problem, or any number of antibiotic-resistant bacteria that is common in our hospitals (public and especially private).

UBER EATS

Given the concern about coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to give you an update on the steps that Uber Eats is taking, working closely with public health authorities around the world.

We have a dedicated global team of Uber operations, security and safety executives, guided by the advice of a consulting public health expert, working to respond as needed in each market where we operate. We remain in close contact with local public health organisations and will continue to follow their recommendations.

Across Uber Eats:
On Friday 28 February, we began sending information to delivery partners across the globe with tips, based on public health organisation guidance, on how to help stay healthy.

We have contracted directly with an epidemiologist who is guiding our efforts and strategy with public health organisations globally, removing access to the app when there are confirmed cases of coronavirus.

We have worked directly with local health authorities to help them identify and respond to specific cases of potential infection in several markets around the world.

We have begun educating customers and delivery partners on the ability to reduce contact by using ‘leave at door’ drop-off.

Current advice from public health authorities suggests that COVID-19 cannot be transmitted via food, and while you know best how to run operations and keep your employees and customers safe, we encourage you to follow best practices on food safety and packaging, and to review the Uber Eats Community Guidelines. Specifically, we advise:
Ensuring the proper sanitation of surfaces, food handlers and food preparation environments.

Ensuring all food is properly sealed in tamper-evident packaging.

Ensuring that any locations where delivery people wait for orders are separate from any food prep areas.

Contacting your local public health authority in the event of suspected coronavirus cases.

As this is a rapidly evolving situation, our response will be re-evaluated on a regular basis, and we are committed to providing the most up-to-date guidance to the independent delivery partners who use Uber to support our restaurant partners.

For questions about operations in your region, please contact your local public health authority.

So how is everyone coping? All our students are sent home, and sitting and waiting to hear if I have next week "off"
In 3-4 weeks we have to be ready to go 100% online learning

@Tebulot - currently wrecking my plans for the last few months of the PhD, delaying sample prep at Wits and lab analyses overseas, but I've now got no excuse not to finish paper drafts and thesis chapters from home, so not too bad considering. Technical registration ruined and Wits gets more of my damn money.

The higher ups are in a meeting literally right now to try and find solutions.
They will allow some critical experiments, but since the supply chain is getting F-up it is going to be tough times ahead.
Believe me, the staff at Wits are flippen SPINNING to try and minimize damage

Took my parents last month for their second jab.
Mother had a headache like with the first jab, but otherwise fine.
Also Pfizer.
Brother is turning 35 end of next month, will register both of us then.
